will it increase radiation to the head?

I would buy one, but find it hard to believe that this product will reach production. Mocking one up in Photoshop, but producing them in high quality is a much bigger challenge.

I'm now finalizing the design and I would like to get some feedback as to how many of you would buy this product.

I would also like to know what you think the cost of such a product should be.

    Thanks,

whoa...what a nice concept...when it will be introduced?

I have modified an extra antenna which I bought and shifted the core inwards. Picture was taken with the mod antenna on an empty case (for testing) I bought together with it.

This results in an antenna about 0.5cm long. Have tried it after assembling it today and it was working great(thanks goodness!). Now antenna currently in 24hrs curing stage due to the gray silicon I used to fill the hole at the top. Will update with more pics in the SPUG forums once I finished it up cosmetically.

It's not like the one zoti has shown us, but it's good enough for me at the moment.

I dropped my treo quite some time ago. Landed right on the antenna and the force pulled on the case and stripped out the screw that holds the antenna in place. Not exactly something you can fix by just replacing the antenna.

I ended up paying Palm $200+ for the advance replacement out of warranty service. I'd definitely buy a stubby antenna as long as the quality was good and reception was the same just to help keep that from happening again.

For $200 I would just super glue the thing back together.

The housing was all scratched up from my Peil Frama case anyways. That and a 90 day warranty made it just barely worth it to me. Was a bit annoyed that for that price they didn't include a new stylus though

Have to wait another day. Silicon did not turn out quite well so changed to epoxy. Another 24 hrs of curing.

You can't just chop the top of the antenna off. The antenna element goes through itl

It certainly appears that Ddeath did just that! Granted it isn't as short as you're proposing but still it seems he just performed a lop-it-off-a-me with good results.

Well, it's not really just 'chop off' the top half since the antenna core must be preserved. It's a redesign, a mod of the antenna that still use the same component. I'm thinking of producing and selling this, and I will start with Singapore first.

Very cool! Now if I could find a way to attach the flashing antenna from my old motorola I'd be set.

Just a saw and some files. And of course some skills to redesign and mod this.
