I just checked my treo 700p (VZW) data count in call log.

The Data sent is @ 55MB...

The Data received is @ 4MB...

I don't think I've sent one email, sms, etc since I started using the 700p 7 days ago

Just web browsing/speed test, reading emails, etc..

Why such a huge amount of data sent as oppossed to received?

    What ratios are others getting?

I've noticed its constantly logging on even when chatter, blazer, etc aren't running.

I erased wireless sync, versa, etc.

I also changed "connect to network when phone is turned on": to off , in network prefs.

    What gives?

I hope this isn't an evil ploy by vzw/palm to run up us treo user's data...

P.S. (unrelated) what is passthrough? can't find the answer anywhere.

Whenever any application requests information from another computer, the computer also also needs to verify if the requested information has been transmitted with no packet loss. So for example you visit a website, Blazer requests information from the server which that website is located. The server sends the website data, Blazer then sends more info saying that the information received is OK and doesn't need to be retransmitted. Think of it as confirmation data.
I can also assume that you are probably in a low reception area and there is more packet loss going on from the high uploaded data.

But why so imbalanced with the received?

    What are others ratios?

I see the same thing. I think it must be reversed in that it's data sent from the network and data received to the network.

It might be that you are in a low reception area and are experiencing a high packet loss. Every time you request information, the servers send it where you might not be receiving it. It keeps on requesting it until it times out. Are you getting a lot of time outs?

No, not getting timeouts. My reception has been fine.

I think it may be reversed too. (maybe a proggramming error)

Otherwise, thats alot of data getting sent from my treo...

Where specifically are you checking the status of the data?

Phone > Call Log > Totals button

    Lists sent and received

    Mine appears reversed too.
