My Treo 650 continues to power off when I attempt to access the call Log.
    HELP! Anyone experiencing similiar problem?

In my first days with Treo 650 I had a problem with Call Log and had to do a Hard Reset that solve it.

Now I do not have any problem with Call Log anymore.
For other apps I use Radio Control to keep radio on after soft resets.

On my unlocked GSM Treo 650, I press the Phone/Send button (green phone) to get the phone app and one more press brings up the Call Log. You should also have a Favorite button programmed for the Call Log; if you don't, you can easily create one.

What exactly are you trying to bring up your call log?

I am having the exact same problem - phone resets when I try to access the call log.

The reset occurs when I try to access the call log from ANYWHERE. I have a favorites button set up for call log (which resets when accessed) and when I press the green call button to access the call log it also resets.

I did perform a hard reset and the problem still occurs. Anyone know a fix?

Is it happening after a hard reset, before you hotsync? That would be bad.

Otherwise try deleting PhoneCallDB from the Treo and the Backup folder on the PC.

No, the soft reset occurs after I perform a hard reset AND back up my phone. I don't want to delete my entire call log if possible. I use it to track calls that I have made days and weeks in the past. Is there a limit to how many call log entries are allowed on the phone? I receive/send about 100 calls/day for the last 1 1/2 years so it's probably chock full. But then again I never assumed there was a limit.

Your call log is corrupt. There may be tools that read the file and try to retreive the data. But I don't of any.

Ok, but how do I delete the call log from the phone? If I delete from the computer, won't it be reinstalled when I hotsync?

Try deleting from the phone using Filez (you may have to warm-reset to make sure nothing is running on the Treo. That's warm-reset, not hard-reset. Hold the Up button while resetting).

Also, delete the file from the backup directory on the pc (\program files\palm\<your id>\Backup directory). Now, the file is gone from the Treo and the PC. It won't re-appear on hotsync.

Thanks for the advice. I actually managed to get into the "missed call" log. When there, I deleted everything but the last two months. Apparently you can have too many call log entries. After I confirm the purge the phone froze for about 2 minutes. But I was patient - and hopeful. After 2 minutes it beeped about 5 times and the phone screen appeared. I tried the call log and it worked! Lesson learned is to purge call logs greater than 2 months old. But I have to admit, it's interesting to see who you were calling a year ago - but not very useful.
