If you had your Hotsync setup and backed up your files/programs to your desktop or laptop you may find it in your Program Files, Palmone, BM section I believe.

This reminds me to backup to my laptop, the procress slows down my file transfers, etc. so I skip it. Probably not a bad thing to do once a month or so in case you lose your card or your Treo is lost, etc.

Actually, Hotsync doesn't backup your SD Card. If, however, you're using a product like BackupBuddy for Windows, and have selected the proper option, you'll find a backup of your card in your desktop user directory.
    V > Vx > m505 > m515 > T/T > T3 > TC > 650 > 680

    Gentlemen,

I'm using Backupman and there is a file on my laptop that have my files there under Palmone, BM. Can you explain that?

I know you will let me know if i am indeed mistaken (smile) but if I am then I guess it would only be sycing my files on my Treo and not in Backup man. That would work for me too.

    Thanks

From what I can tell, Backupman doesn't provide a conduit for backing up the card to the desktop. Right click on the Hotsync Manager icon in your program tray and select Custom; would you mind listing the conduits shown there?

You are not mistaken if you are using a supplemental application like Backup man or Backup buddy. But the regular Palm hotsync won't backup the card.

Okay, maybe backupman doesn't work, like Bill said. Don't know about that because I don't use it.

Backupman does not provide this functionality. (I use it)

Looks like you're right, I just checked and did not see a conduit for it there, just Backup.

    Just to clarify...

It is correct that hotsync does not backup the card. However, if you use a mem manager app like PowerRun, Zlauncher to move apps to the card, then the during next hotsync, those files moved to the card on the Treo will be viewed by the Palm hotsync manager as removed from the device. Thus, a copy of those files will be moved the the "Archive" folder in your Palm directory. If you have never cleaned out that directory, you should find copies off all the apps and files you have installed on the Treo and moved to the card...

However, I agree it much easier and simpler to use a app like Backupbuddy or Bluesync to backup the card...

Programs like RescoBackup and Backupbuddy are great, but only if you remember to back up your card as well on a regular basis so you can deal with either loss of the card OR your entire Treo. Buy an SD card reader and copy the contents of your entire SD card into a folder on your computer. If your device ever gets lost or swiss cheesed, you can just pop in a new SD card, copy your old files to it then use your babckup application to restore to RAM. Very straightforward and much faster than Hotsync backups.
