I tried several different ip's with no difference.

I averaged about 275-300 kbs. I'm in the Chicago suburbs.

Glad to report I am now receiving PowerVision EVDO speeds (using DSLREPORTS) of near 300kb. Sprint Technician called me regarding my open trouble report and indicated he fixed the problem. My problem appears fixed.

By the way, did go to Sprint store after my problem was fixed and compared my Treo 700P speed against a Sprint Rep's 6700. The 6700 beat my 700P by about 100kb every time. I still like my Treo better mostly because of the clearer screen and better one handed operation. I have difficulty reading the 6700 screen and I prefer the Treo keyboard to the 6700 slide out keyboard.

how did the technician fix your problem? did he tell you what he did? I am constantly getting ~150kb on my 700p in Orlando, FL. I have tested this on 3 different treo 700p and same results. I also tested on Motorola Q on Verizon and getting same result.

So i went to the Sprint store and the tech there said he has no software updates or PRL update tool for the 700p. so he couldnt even update my PRL version to 20222. He was using a PPC6700 and he had another at the store. On both, the PPC6700 was getting about ~450kb. Thats flaming compared to the ~150kb. Is the PPC6700 going thru a special proxy server. why is it faster?

No proxy server, just whatever Sprint is using...but same as the Treo. In fact, up here in NY with 5 bars I hit just under 800kb fairly regularly (6700, not a 700P).

It's way to early to tell though why the Treo is at least reporting lower speeds (they might not be accurate and I have no idea about the ins and outs of dslreports). If there is an issue, could be hardware, could be software, but I'd bet on the latter and would assume a fix (rom update) would address it (hopefully!).

The Sprint Technician in Boca Raton said something about bad scripts locally that needed to be corrected. Contact Sprint and do a trouble report for EVDO exactly at the address where you are having the problem. Hopefully they will check it out and correct.
    Good Luck.

I think that dslreports doesn't work well with blazer. I ran a test and timed it myself. It was much shorter than the time quoted at the bottom of the test result page. I believe it includes the time blazer takes to process the file prior to loading the next page.

There are serious problems with the Home Agent in Georgia. It's not able to get over 300kbps. If your HA is set to 68.28.185.76 or 77 you might want to change it.

for maddog and other florida members , can we post some results? it seems like florida has crappy evdo coverage. I live in the orlando/UCF area and tested it just 5 mins ago, first result was 230kb, 112kb, 130kb, 213kb,and finally 192kb. is anyone else getting similar results? anyone found a way to fix this or have a 6700 to compare it to? is it florida or our phones?

Ft. Lauderdale on Sprint. Just got 306 followed by 183 then 208 (all on the 600k file). Usually get in the mid 200's. Not great but better than 1XR.

I just tested those two with an S620 laptop card and can get over 1Mbps. In your case, it is either the distance from your nearest tower, load on your tower or the device itself. If it happens all over town, probably the limitation of Treo.

The 185 HA though is very slow, I cannot get over 300Kbps even with a laptop card.

I am in Miami Beach. I called the Sprint Treo hotline (direct access to people who have some clue) 877 573-8143 this morning and complained about my speed. I said I was getting 175k when I was in fact getting about 300k speeds. The gentleman walked me through a simple process whereby he updated my unit remotely (about 10 minutes).

Since that remote update, my speeds have run at 406/354/396/434/365/359 (using DSL reports mspeed @600k file). the IP's are: 68.28.145.77 and 68.28.153.77

I don't know what they did, but it worked for me. My experience in the past with my 650 was that other markets (e.g. Las Vegas) were noticable faster than the Miami area.

Hope this helps some of you...

That's some good speed, I called & they told me they'll have to call me back. He had me test the speed on my 700p(with full bars & EvDO mode), first try was at 71k, second 179, third 121. Stated I should be hitting a min of 300k. So now I have to wait for about 3 days for them to call me, but thank you for being a Sprint customer for 8+ years...
