I have heard the same thing, but don't know the technical reason. A Google Search might yield some insight...

What do you want to do with Windows XP Media Center Edition? Install Palm Destkop on it? My PC is running Windows XP Media Center Edition and all the apps. that came with my 700P's CD installed and work just fine.

You are getting bad info from Palm. Media Center Edition is just XP Home with additional multimedia capabilities. I run it on my primary machine and all Palm related software works fine.

Unless I'm mistaken (which I am not), all of the Windows XP editions have the same basic kernel and system setup. The only difference between the editions is certain features (security, remote desktop, IIS, media sever, etc). Anything that can be done on XP Home should be able to be done on Media. Now about Vista...

Other posters have clarified that the Palm desktop software should run OK on Media Center. I can believe that.

But I think you are asking a different question. I think you are asking - can you stream from the Media Center to your 700p with no additional software. Like you could to an Xbox 360. I would believe the lady at Palm. I can't think of any way to do that.

Can you add more pieces to this software puzzle to achieve this? Like Orb as one example? Yes - I think you can.
