    All,

What am I doing wrong? I have installed the file with Resco and got a restart and then connected to the web with Blazer. Now tried to use Bluetooth and nothing happened. Says I cannot connect with WinXP. Can someone help me?

    Jim

Jimmie, For those of us Mac people who haven't done much with DUN and the Mac, would you mind sharing the steps you used to get connected via bt to the Mac. Also, did you need a user name with this hack? Many thanks!

I had trouble at first, then her is what i did
I downloaded the file using T700p into my blazer folder on the phone
used resco expolorer to change the file name from attachment.php to PhoneINterfaceLibrary.prc. Then I used RescoExplorer to copy the file to RAM.
Then on the computer I enabled BT, paired it with the device then clicked on the device (treo700p) in the computer and checked selcted properties, then clicked on the services tab. I noted the COM port number then went into netwroks. Set up new connection and entered my vision name and password, for the number to dial i did #777. Laslty, i chose the modem with the com port i wrote down. Finished everything, clicked on the connection and viola

I just got my 700p yesterday and I'll be trying this ASAP. The fact that they force you into a $15/month plan for something that I might only need 2 or 3 times per year is just silly. This app is exactly what I need. I won't abuse it, but every now and then when I need to teather, it will be great. Thanks!

Um, Sprint charges $40/month for this ability! Although apparently Sprint's website is now offering a promo for "Flexible Data Plan for Phone as Modem" for $25/month.

And yeah, I only need it once in a blue moon, so even that is way too expensive. This hack is certainly appreciated, looking forward to checking it out.

What's the name of the app you tried (for the USB DUN?)

Mac user here, and just experimenting too.

It's called "usb modem", I'm beta testing the app. Bluetooth DUN works perfectly. I kept the same setup that I used with my 650 and my powerbook. I didn't change anything around.

This is how I had my 650 setup with my powerbook, I didn't change anything with the 700p. Follow these instructions.l

I could only get USB modem to connect and stay connected for a few minutes.

That's why you're a beta tester. Hopefully the developer will get it fixed.

Bluetooth DUN shouldn't be much slower. (But with USB at least your Treo battery isn't being taxed.)

I was very suprised that I got 243kbps over BT.

You can use BT DUN, and still charge your phone via the USB cable.

Will this hack work for verizon? and if so, how do i install it?
  17. #97
The hack will work, just download the hack. Put the hack on your sd card, get the latest verison of resco explorer (this is where I had problems, I used an older version) and use it to move the hack over to internal memory. Reset the treo, and you should be good to go.

For what its worth, now that the hack has been renamed as such, you can just hotsync the file as well.

Whole things seems to work beautifully using Win XP

i have hotsynced it over a couple times and then i use Blazer, and then try to connect and when i do it, the connection comes up with an error saying "A modem error occurred. Please verify your settings and try again." I am also using a mac.

I couldn't get it to work hotynsing it over. I used the latest version of resco explorer to get it on my Treo. I have an imac, and a powerbook. After I installed it the way I described above it worked right off the bat on my powerbook.
