Just installed my 700P. Now there is a conduit for "addit", however, there is no corresponding software installed on the treo (verizon).

Anyone know what this is all about?

From a website I found on Google:

Bluefish Wireless worked closely with palmOne on the development of the LifeDrive. The Addit application built on Bluefish Wireless's mobile content publishing software ships on the ROM of the Lifedrive. The Addit desktop conduit is installed at the same time the Palm Desktop and Hot Sync Manager are installed. This is the first device from palmOne that fully integrates Bluefish's software 'out of the box'.

In a deal done just weeks before the official LifeDrive launch, Reuters provides free news on the LifeDrive in multiple categories. Premium services will be available within the next few months. Weather, stock quotes, exchange rates and mapping information will be added to the free service shortly. Current handheld owners will be able to install this service on their own handhelds from June 10 by downloading and installing Addit from www.palmOne.com/addit. If you are already an Addit user the service will be automatically installed.

Thanks. However, I did see information on the palm web site about addit, however, there is no addit software included with the treo 700p, and I did not install anything like that.

Is it already included in the hotsync software, and we have to download the app? There is no other information on the program, in anything verizon sent with the 700p.

I've seen the conduit on the Installation CD that came with the Treooo 700P. I believe it must have been installed because during a HotSync I see a message about Addit on the screen.

Same here, except there is no application on the VZW Treo 700P to correspond to the addit conduit. Unless I am truly missing something. Not even an add-on app on the cd.

Addit is in part tied to the "My Treo" app. Try to update your news and it will connect to palm via Addit.

My Treo is really a good addition. People here will start posting comments like, "Check your My Treo app before you start a new thread."

I'll be damned... you're right of course. I never saw the News tab in My Treo... sweet!

I just checked my My Treo, and I do not have a news tab. I am able to "update" but it doesn't seem to do anything.

Are you on Sprint or Verizon?

Palm has changed "Addit" to "My Treo", but the conduits still reference "Addit."

Sprint and Verizon chose to install different My Treo features on their devices.

The Sprint version has a User Guide, Knowledge Base, and Reuters News.

The Verizon version only has the User Guide and Knowledge Base.

Neither version includes the shopping feature of Addit.

You can download the "full" version of Addit here:
    http://www.palm.com/addit

That will add a second "My Treo" icon that may sort differently (it has a space before "My" so it sorts to the beginning of the Applications screen; the Sprint and Verizon versions don't have the space). That version of My Treo will provide the shopping and news tabs, and I've been beta-testing a new version of My Treo with some cool new features that will be automatically added through the Addit conduit when they are released.

Thank you for the explanantion, however, why, then, would Verizon add the addit hotsync conduit, if it really doesn't do anything?

My guess is that it was an oversight on Verizon's part, but I don't really know.

Well, thank you, again, for the information. I guess I'll just disable the conduit, and leave well enough alone.

And I see that the Support and News tabs have "Update" buttons at the bottom, so you can still have the latest info available wirelessly if you choose to disable the slow conduit.

No such button for the User Guide, but that probably implies that content is static anyway.

Isn't the Sprint My Treo application just Handmark's Pocket Express?

OnDemand is Handmark's Pocket Express. My Treo is completely different.

I tried it but it all shows up in the default launder. I cannot get it to show up in Launcher X. Only the original Mytreo shows up there- it doesn't combine them. So now I have 2 and the new one takes up a lot of space. Hodo I get rid of it? Two icons in default launcher but seen as only one app so not easy to know which files to delete. Only one icon (the original one) shows up in Launcher X so can't delete new one in there either.

    Any ideas?

Try a manual refresh in LX. If that doesn't work, change one of your LX categories so that it shows all apps (tap and hold on the category tab, Advanced, Show All Apps)...still not see it? Then I suggest you post your question in Jeff's Launcher X Discussions thread.
