Would someone recommend a good piece of software for tracking auto mileage for expenses and also dates for auto repairs - oil change, brakes, tires, etc? I have a Prism and am evaluating the following:
    AutoBase
    MPG
    Total Car
I looked into KarKare and that really doesn't do the trick. I plan to check out AutoLog which I just downloaded. I'm not really sold on any of these programs and was wondering if there was another program I may have missed that would allow me to track expense mileage and repairs? Thanks for the help!

There's also AutoMobil (author also wrote Secret! and X-Master). http://linkesoft.com/english/automobil

And, there's a thinkDB app called "Car Maintenance" and there's at least 3 different HanDBase databases related to car maintenance.

Autobase. Free and does all you are looking for.

I've been using MPG and really like it. Only drawback is you have to put up with register me screens after one month or purchase program!

    I'll second that.

I've read all the posts - thanks everyone for the great feedback - and after some experimentation on my own have decided to go with Autobase. Thanks again everyone for the help!

I'm not quite sure I follow your reasoning here. If you continue to use MPG past the given 30 day trial time, then you should purchase it or move on. If you don't want to pay for the software, please use a freeware alternative. I guess you don't get the whole "Shareware" concept.

I've run across another program for tracking auto related issues that hasn't been posted to PalmGear or Handango yet. It is called "Auto-Slate", and is developed by Standalone Software. I found it in his beta section for Palm software. Looks like it has a lot of potential. Nice UI, lots of features, etc. Cost is listed to be $15. No word on when it might be released, but you can download and check out the beta.
