James just posted a news item about a program to allow viewing of PRC Icons in Mac folders. Not to leave the PC folks feeling left out, there is a similar program for windows called PalmPilot Desktop Extensions. Enjoy.

Here is a simpler - and FREE - way to get the proper icons to show up on .PRC and .PDB files on the Mac.

    1) Download Creator Changer 2.8.4 at http://hyperarchive.lcs.mit.edu/Hype...hanger-284.hqx and install it. Creator Changer is FREE!

    2) Configure these change types in the "Prefered Types List" under "File->Preferences".

Note: The Creator Type and File Type fields are case sensitive!

    For .PRC files:
    Creator Type: Gld1
    File Type: ****
    Description: Palm OS .PRC File

    For .PDB files:
    Creator Type: Gld1
    File Type: ****
    Description: Palm OS .PDB File

    3) Make an alias of Creator Changer on the desktop and place it where it will be easily accessable. I placed mine just to the left of the Trash icon in the lower right corner of the screen. That way I can quickly and easily drag-and-drop files onto it to change the files type and creator (which determines the file's icon)

    4) Use and enjoy!

Here are a couple more convienent settings for Mac users:

    For Adobe Acrobat .pdf files:
    Creator Type: CARO
File Type: PDF <-note this is "PDF " with a space after the PDF
    Description: Acrobat PDF File

    For ZipIt (Zip) files:
Creator Type: ZIP <-note this is "ZIP " with a space after the ZIP
File Type: ZIP <-note this is "ZIP " with a space after the ZIP
    Description: ZipIT Zip files

    For Stuffit SIT files:
    Creator Type: SITx
    File Type: SITD
    Description: Stuffit SIT File

    For Netscape HTML files:
    Creator Type: MOSS
    File Type: TEXT
    Description: Netscape HTML file
