How can I order a 700p and get SERO?

When I log onto the SERO site, the 700p is not one of the choices.

fyi, I'm a current Verizon customer, have a valid referral.

Also, any other advice/suggestions for getting the best deal on the phone and sprint service?

    thanks!!

There are a ton of people in this forum waiting for the 700p to get on the SERO site...ya just have to keep on checking...but from what others peeps have been saying, it might be wishfull thinking that the 700p will be on the SERO site. I am currently with Verizon and if the 700p becomes a choice, i am jumping ship!

Don't hold your breath waiting for the 700P to get tothe SERO site. You have two options:

    1) Sign up for SERO with a free phone and pay full retail for the 700P. Alternatively, you can buy something like the A900 and sell it on ebay after you get the 700P to help defray some of the 700P cost.

    2) Sign up for Sprint via Palm, online, or at a store and get the new subscriber rate THEN try to sign up for SERO after the account is established.

I think #1 is a sure thing but #2 is pretty risky.

You have to decide is Sprint is really what you want and if the SERO plan is worth it. You can run the numbers to figure out when you break even.

Not gonna happen. SERO is a clearing house for older phones. You could buy the 700P at full price, and do an ESN swap from the crappy phone you get through SERO.
I find it sad/odd that people ask to be thanked. How genuine is it when you have to ask? It's like forcing your kid to call Grandma, to thank her for the new underwear she sent for their birthday.

I just called and asked the rep and she said that the same PHONE has to be active for 6 months (the original one you purchased) before you can swap the ESNs. True, or no?

I just spoke with a rep and was told the same thing.

    SERO stands for the
    Sprint Employee Referral Offer.

There are lots of threads at TC regarding this amazin offer. You can also refer to this thread at SlickDeals.net.

I am interested in getting the Treo 700P under the SERO plan. Here is my transcript with a Sprint agent from their website. If you go through enough TC threads, you will find that what Sprint Representatives say from store to store, webchats to webchats will not always be consistent. I am planning to use this transcript to make sure I can successfuly switch to SERO. Hope you find it useful. Wish me luck and good luck to all of you who wants the 700p and SERO as well.

Agent: Hello, my name is XXX. I'm a Sprint online order specialist. You only have a few steps to go. Are there any questions I can help answer for you today?
Agent: Just let me know if you need any help, I'll be right here.
    You: I have a question
You: I am interested in the Treo 700p
Agent: How can I assist you today?
You: And I would like to join Sprint's SERO plan.
    You: Sprint Employee Referal Offer.
You: How can I do that?
Agent: Ok. You would need to call customer care after completing the order to get added to that plan.
You: That is what I'm thinking
You: But I am afraid that Sprint will say that I've already commited to a 2-year agreement
You: at the higher priced plans.
Agent: So long as you have your confirmation number handy that isn't a problem.
You: Is there something that I can refer to that says I am allowed to join the SERO plan after signuping here.
Agent: An email is sent to you after completing the order, ok?
    You: I see.
You: So you are absolutely sure that I can sign up the SERO plan after I sign up here on the website?
Agent: Sprint completely respects and protects your information and your privacy.
Agent: I am unable to see anything that you enter on these pages.
Agent: This site is highly secure and all information you enter is encrypted while being sent to us.
Agent: The encrypted data ensures that nobody else can see your information during this process.
You: So you are sure that I am allowed to switch to the SERO plan after I sign up here?
Agent: Yes, so long as you call customer care and give them your confirmation number. It will be a new 2 yr agreement like the one you are purchasing today.
You: I see. Thank you. One more thing. Am I allowed to keep my exisiting wireless number (currently with Verizon Wireless)
    Agent: Yes, you can.
You: I checked my number on Sprint's website...and it says I'm qualified.
You: So I enter my phone number later in this application process?
Agent: Once the phone arrives, you can take it to the sprint store to have the number transferred, or,
Agent: you can call customer care to do it, ok?
You: Ok, Jessica. Thank you for your help. You sure made this decision process much easier.
Agent: You're welcome. Will you be continuing with the order?
    You: Yes.
    Agent: Great.
Agent: Let me know if I can be of assistance.
    You: ok, thank you
    Agent: You're welcome.
    You: another question
You: I am currently in California
You: If I move to New York
You: Am I allowed to change my phone number?
    Agent: Yes, you can.
You: Are there charges for doing so? If yes, how much?
Agent: That I don't know, sorry. It would be probably about $20.00.
    Agent: Are you doing ok?
Agent: Again, my name is XXX. Thank you for visiting Sprint.com today. We appreciate your interest and look forward to meeting your wireless needs in the future. Have a great day.

I was told something different and was told that I could swap ESNs. Think of it this way, what are they going to do if you lose your phone within 6 months.

Fortunately we have the 15 day trial period.

Good luck. I was going to try that approach and if it didn't work I was going to go to retention to get them to add SERO. I chose a safer and less painful route that will cost me an additional $200-$250. It is a high price to pay but the thought of being on the phone chasing customer service reps for a couple of hours is not exciting.

if it doesn't show up on the SERO site by the time I get my paycheck, I'm going to sign up for the Treo on the palm site, then ask for retentions and tell them that SERO is what pulled me to go with Sprint. If I couldn't get that, I would just cancel my service.

And really...that is the truth. Tmobile has better prices for me, but with SERO its better.

Does anybody know if you signup for a free SERO phone, w/o EVDO or PowerVision service, can you add that for free when you get a Treo 700p? Obviously you can buy an expensive phone that already has EVDO/PowerVision, but the cheapest option there is $119, for a phone I don't want to use.

Several people have said back when they signed up for SERO and got a 650 w/ free Vision that Sprint told them they could upgrade to the 700p when it comes out and get the free PowerVision without any problem.

The SERO plan does say free Vision or PowerVision, depending on the phone you get. I'm like to hear from some folks on SERO if they are able to make this switch from Vision to PowerVision without any problem before I make the plunge to the 700p myself.

I can't speak from experience, but I have read that if you have SERO already, its a simple change on theri system to change it to powervision. I either read that on one of the threads here or the huge SD SERO thread.

I am moving over to Sprint once my 700p from palm arrives this week. My plan of attack is to call the SERO line and just activate my phone through them with a new SERO plan. I spoke to them already and they said it would not be a problem. Palm told me they don't care what plan I sign up for as long as I sign up.

completely inaccurate... they can say that, but we dont dictate what a customer does with his handset... we are a service provider... not a handset nazi provider...

There's a SERO number to call? Are you sure it's not the regular sales department or retentions or something? lol
