Moviefone gives you access to up-to-the minute movie showtimes from your Palm(tm) wireless handheld. You can also buy movie tickets for no extra charge right from your handheld. Search for a particular movie or just give us your zip code and we'll tell you what's playing at theaters near you.

Does this work with a 650? I was able to load it, and the icon shows up, but nothing happens when I try to launch it.

No, it won't work with any modern Palm device (the last I remember was the VII): it's a pqa file. I assume that Jack never tried it.

Here's a free movie app that will work with the Treo (although its UI is still a little crude), written by a TC poster:

Bill, my version of Get Movies (by Sivil) doesn't work anymore on a T650 (Sprint). Does yours?

I checked his website to see if he had a newer version, but it appears he doesn't (Jan '06).

It (version 2) works just fine on mine (T-Mobile).

Well, yesterday, I had checked the version loaded on the 650, the app itself & Palm Applications both reported as version 1. I then downloaded what was supposedly version 2 from his site. This "new" version still reports as version 1, and doesn't work (no theatres can be fetched for any zips around me).

So it won't work with the 700p? Is it easier to visit this site and download it from my 700p or transfer it from my computer to the 700p via. usb cable?

Okay, GetMovie now works for me on a T650. It also reports as version 2. I had a corrupt Saved Preference for it. I deleted the single entry, ran the program, works fine and now reports as version 2 (rather than version 1).

oops, everything above is accurate except Palm Apps info still shows it as version 1.

Actually, GetMovies was available from a TreoCentral forum since Jan '06.

One thing to watch out for: if a theater is closed, it'll post movie times from the previous theater listed. I live near NO, LA, and theaters that are shutdown because of Katrina are still listing with movie times. If you go directly to Yahoo, it'll appear properly; no showings. Probably not that bIg of a deal, I'd just hate to drive all the way to someplace and find nothing there.

That said, I've not been to a movie theater in a bunch of years. I use this prog for my kids.

I could use some help on this app. I double clicked the Moviefone.pqa on my Windows PC and then hotsynced. It put the Moviefone icon on my 650, but when I run it I get the following Error Message:

"Cannot start the application! Probably deleted, or not enough RAM"

I have 15.2M free, so I am not sure what the issue is. Anyone else run into this problem?

When I query the theatres in a zip code GetMovie v2 only returns 5 theatres. Am I missing something? I live in the San Francisco Bay Area.

I am running this app from my SD card.

At this point, GetMovies returns only the 5 theaters closest to the entered zip code. To get other theaters, either change zip codes or try http://palm.moviefone.com

I use the wap version of hollywood.com and love it, way easier for me at least to use then moviefone, I use it all the time, you can put in your zip and tell it how many miles of a radius to search and it will give you every theatre in that area, you can search by movie or theatre.

No, I downloaded it but hadn't had a chance to try it yet.....saw it on aTreo blog site and noted that the release date was 05-22-06. Was aware old one didn't work so figured something released in 2006 would be Treo compatable .... looks like bad assumption on my part.
