Do a 'find' on 320x320 and you'll see a few Verizon entries. Not impressive so far, only 150-265Kbps. If you have a 700p, please try outdoors.

    From the PC rag review

    http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,1895,1966264,00.asp

Although the Treo syncs easily with both Macs (with iSync or Palm Desktop) and PCs (with Palm Desktop or Microsoft Outlook), Mac users don't get the ultimate prize—the ability to use the Treo as a USB modem on Sprint's EV-DO network. With it hooked up to a PC using Sprint's Connection Manager, I got excellent speeds of 900 to 1,100 Kbps. That's awesome. ....

You won't get that full speed in Palm's Blazer browser, either. Blazer's not-so-fast rendering engine kept effective speeds on bandwidth-test Web sites down to about 200 Kbps. But the device as a whole feels very responsive, and it's fast enough to play music or stream video. (Streaming media appears in a customized version of Kinoma's media player, which can handle MP3, WMA, WMV, and MPEG4 streams.) In both processor and video benchmarking tests, the 700p came out slightly faster than both the Treo 650 and the Palm TX, the Editors' Choice standalone PDA.

Damn... might get a speeding ticket for going that fast!

Just activated my Verizon 700p, and got 341 kbps for 600k just now here in Los Angeles.

the problem with a lack of EVDO DUN on a mac can be somewhat remidied with boot camp but I hope MarkSpace Palm or someone else comes up a fix for Macs.
  15. #15
There is Ev-DO DUN on a mac, but just not through USB. You have to use bluetooth. Slower, but not non-existant.

    And now:
My 700P will be better than your 700p!

What about WirelessModem for the Treo 600/650? This allows me internet access on my Mac through the USB cable. Will this not work with the 700p? I thought all these apps work on the ip stack level.
    Palm Vx -> Treo 600 -> Treo 700p -> Centro -> Pre (Launch Phone 06/06/09) -> AT&T Pre Plus with Sprint EVDO swap -> Samsung Epic 4G w/ Froyo

According to the results page, not much difference between the two in speed:

For comparison purposes I get about 700k consistently on Verizon with my 700w.

If you look at the results page link in the first post of this thread, it clearly indicates PPC and WinCE devices are much faster than Palm OS devices:

    http://www.dslreports.com/mspeed?results=1

I don't see a single Palm OS device until 389 kbps, and that's on Verizon. While I'm a Palm diehard that couldn't wait for my EVDO Treo 700p, makes me think again about my future with POS devices. Is it just Blazer, or the whole OS that makes it slower??

After my initial 341 kbps test last night, I'm getting in the mid 200s consistently today.....not very promising, Verizon. I wonder if the rumors about Verizon throttling back their EVDO are true......

Have you tried USB to laptop? It should get 1Mbps if in ideal conditions.
