When we get our 700p's do we have to call Sprint? When I got my 6700 I didn't have to do anything. I ordered the 700p through Palm and wanted to know if we're going to have to call Sprint to change to the EV-DO power vision plans?

Well, you are going to have to call them to activate the phone.

Your 6700 was shipped already activated? I've never heard of such a thing. I would expect that you'll have to call Sprint to activate your 700p.
Now THIS is the future of smartphones.

yeah, that is normal operating procedure!

I think I remember just calling a number when I got the 6700, I didn't talk to anyone from Sprint. I am wondering how they are going to handle us treo 650 users going to the 700p.

My understanding, after doing lots of research and reading on sprintusers.com, i think the best course of action will be to call and do an ESN swap, not a new activation. They should be able to swap your phone without making any other uncessary changes to your plan or service.

ESN swap also will eliminate the 35.00 activation fee....

An ESN swap is not charged a fee. It's the provisioning that is charged a activation fee. And your brand new treo 700p will need to be provisioned. So you will be charged 35$.

If you purchase the phone in a sprint store the fee is 18$. If purchased through telesales it's 35$. It's a one time fee to provision the phone. One provisioned you can swap in/out as many times as you want for free.

I have ESN swapped multiple Vison enabled phones, on my account, wifes account and a business account. I have never, ever been charged a fee to provision these phones.

If I buy my phone from the Palm site, will I be elegable for the $75 or $150 rebate from Sprint for purchasing a new phone?

I just called Sprint to ask that very question. The nice lady on the phone said that I would have to buy either from Sprint or Radio Shack. But! We all know how CSR's can occassionally be wrong...

When is the last time you did it? Swapping is not a problem - enabling a new phone is. I was not charged the $36 "upgrade" fee last August, but was charged for a new phone upgrade in December. I called and had that credited back. They are also getting more picky about it.

But an ESN swap is still a freebie.

Just that - you need to do an ESN swap.

Here's another number too - 866-306-7056. This is a "red" CS line - it goes right to CS here in the US and bypasses the automated system (as well as India).

6700's ARE shipped activated. Just because you haven't heard of it doesn't mean it isn't so.
