Same here. When I purchased through the developers site I could not get the 1 gig card to add in. Called them and they told me to call back after I get the phone. Sounds like you can call when you get the shipping notice.

I have been told the same thing twice. First was Stephannie then Jasmin so I would not worry about it. I would just wait until it ships. In the mean time I think I'm going to concentrate on other important activities such as spend more time with my kids and wife.

Check again -- if you buy the 700p from Palm, and send them the receipt, they will give you $150 even if your 650 is in crappy shape.

I got the one from the developer's site, and your saying if I call them they will be able to add the 1 gig card later? I will try that, that is not a bad deal much better than the free BT head piece they gave us last time.

I finally purchased mine from the Developers site well after I activated the coupon.

I could not get the coupon to be applied when purchasing it from the main palm site with the free 1gb sd card offer.

To get the coupon to be used I had to go through the developer's site and I had to go through all the steps. I did this several times without buying, trying to get the SD card on the order. Each time I did, it always brought me to the same window that says the coupon has been activated after which I could get the order placed with the $100 discount. No SD card, but was told by a sales rep to just call them back after it ships and they will ship it to me then.

Like I said earlier, I could not get this to work either. I am wondering if this is provider dependent. I ordered a Vz phone. Is that what you guys ordered, or did you order sprint?

I, too, called and received the same response: call again after the order has shipped. Anyway, it's not the biggest deal anyway. Fry's sells 1GB SD cards for $28 and 2GB for $43. There's probably even better deals hangin' around on the web.

I know a few on here were upset at the idea of people signing up for a developer account just to get the $100 off. From a marketing standpoint, it's pure genius. I wouldn't be surprised if Palm themselves leaked that information. How many people jumped on the bandwagon to get the 700p that weren't initially going to get it, or were at least unsure? Those are extra sales that Palm now has that they wouldn't otherwise. Same thing with Sprint and the SERO. They knew what would happen with that offer, and it worked. They probably added 25% more to their customer base as a result.

I'm not making the point that it's ok to abuse the system, because it isn't. However, PALM has people there that are much smarter than us. If they were worried about the $100 offer being taken advantage of, they would have just offered it to current developers or at least made it more restrictive to get an account. That's why they haven't shut it down now. They are making a killing! So don't feel bad; I don't. When I filled out the account, I was very truthful. I am a tech consultant for schools, and I told them that I would like to make or at least help someone make a program where a teacher can do everything on their palm in the class: attendance, grades, etc, and it all syncs up in realtime over the school's network to their server. I don't know the first thing about developing, but I have a vast network of people and some of them do, so I'd like to assist in getting something like that developed.

Anyway, it's late and I'm aimlessly typing. Back to dream land...

Actually, I may have been the one that leaked that Developer's Discount here. I mentioned it on the 21st in the thread I started about Palm now selling the 700P on their site. I don't remember seeing any mention of the discount here on TC recently, before then.

That may be true, but you don't see Palm pulling that offer at all. They are loving it!

And we all LOVE you for that.

I just hope they have enough stock from all these additional orders they wouldn't have gotten had they not offered developers the $100 discount. This is the first time in the couple of years I've been registered there that I've actually taken advantage of the discount.

I think they have enough to complete all our orders and more than enough to ship it out to Sprint and Verizon.

I successfully ordered the Treo 700p with the developers' discount and the free 1 GB card. For me what worked (after many aborted, unsuccessful attempts) was the following, which must be done in this order to work:

    1. Click on the link for the free 1 GB card and activate the coupon
    2. Continue and order the full-priced Treo 700p on your carrier of choice (mine was Sprint)
    3. Once you get to the screen that shows you the accessories you can add to your order, STOP
    4. Open a new tab or browser window and log into the developers' site
    5. Go through all steps necessary until you get to the "coupon is activated" page, then STOP
    6. Go back to the first order and click on continue, and the shopping cart will show the free 1 GB card and an updated price on the Treo 700p
    7. Finish your order
    8. Hope and pray they actually ship both items within a reasonable period

Good luck! As do all of you, I hope they ship these things soon!

As a Treo 650 user, I'm fairly content with my device but I still desire the EVDO. I've basically ignored my desire order the 700p until I came across this thread. 1gig +100bux discount basically pushed me over the edge and I was about to go through with the order... but...

Registered as a developer, basically stating what kind of business I'm in (Real Estate) however, honestly I'm not a developer at all.

After logging in and navigating to the product discount program page product discount program page I see a description of the program:

Palm™ is happy to offer our PluggedIn developers discounts on products through the Palm Treo and handheld stores. Current discounts are $100 off of one Treo (one per year, per developer)and up to 25% off of LifeDrives, handhelds and accessories.

and immediately following -in red, I see the following:

**Please note that only registered developers who have been a member of the PluggedIn program for at least 60 days are eligible for this discount. Anyone abusing this program will be prosecuted to the full extent of the law.

So does that means that those that JUST registered aren't able to take advantage of this promotion?

no...it means that can take advantage of it...they will just be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law (if palm catches them abusing it)
