Now I've known ever since I started hearing about a Treo with EVDO coming soon that a $700ish drain on my bank account was imminent so it won't be a deal-breaker or anything but why couldn't Sprint have added Direct Connect?? How long has Sprint been "powered by Nextel" now? Why don't their new phones comes with chirp yet???

I don't think you can make that assumption for certain. Let's just wait until the 700p is release. Also, Sprint can release the BB client later on as well...

Sprint is not powered by Nextel...Nextel is powered by Sprint in this merger. Sprint aquiring Nextel helps gain the business market, while Nextel stands a future technologically being under Sprint. Direct connect is utilized on the IDEN network...which is on a radio frequency...hence why it works so well...unlike ready link on CDMA. Nextel to Sprint is Like Chrysler to Daimler. Nextel in the future will be powered by Sprint canceling out the technologically exhausted IDEN network with no hope for advancement.
