Like alot of users my 650 suffers from frequent fatal resets where I would lose all my setting. I got in the habit of backing up my my Saved Preferences file frequently. Last week I found an application called PrefDoctor ( http://mytreo.net/downloads/details-...ml?Pref_Doctor ) that does this automatically. My Treo still resets but it is now just a minor nuisace on the order of waiting for Windows to boot rather than an active problem.

Thanks for the info but it's been out for about 6-months (http://discussion.treocentral.com/sh...ght=PrefDoctor).

Yep and like all apps it does on occasion make a boo - be careful with it. I normally have it restore the previous preferences and have started locking those preferences - cure 3. Ben

is there an advantage to saving preferences via PrefDoctor as opposed to backing up every night with eg, Backupman?

The idea with PrefDoctor is that a reset/crash will not force you to have to restore your preferences from a backup. Your Treo will just reset and you won't lose any settings with PrefDoctor.

i'd just assume restore my prefs file from backupman, but yeah, good idea if you want to save that step

Ive found that sometimes after resets, and/or hotsyncs after resets that some of my apps get moved into another category (usually unfiled) will this app prevent that?
ONE can be spelled as NEO.

    yep.
I couldn't live without this app. My resets, usually 1-3 a day, are now only a minor nuisance. doing a manuel restore takes time and is a pain in the a$$
