Who would be interested in the option to flush DbCache after a backup on a Treo 650?
Asking for a checkbox to be added to Resco's Rbackup to do this automatically.

Not much activity on Resco's forums so wondering if it is just me that wants this and if not maybe get some support and momentum going on this.

Their fear is that it will cause crashes(which it will if your treo is ALREADY sporadically crashing!)

    Thoughts anyone?

The safest course is to clear the dbcache with a soft reset.

I always warm-reset before Resco Explorer Backup and soft-reset afterwards.
You could use Meminfo to flush dbCache

hmm, actually what i am after is a backup program to flush it afterwards by itself

I asked for this feature last year and got a rather lukewarm response from the developer.

That said, it is now part of my morning ritual to simply start MemInfo and do a cache clear. With Butler, I do it with my eyes closed and instinctively.

A Softreset is still the best way to clear the DBCache. There are apps whichcan schedule Softresets and even switch on the phone afterwards.

for some reason my unlocked gsm does turn on the phone after a reset, and i have put nothing on there to do that..

problem with that is after a reset i always have to power down the phone then power it back up to get the data connecton work...

so i just need a way to launch blazer at a set time and i will have what i need, my dbcache purged before i wake up

meminfo have a scheduler in it to flush dbcache?

Eh... I just meminfo manually to flush the dbcache if I absolutely have to prior to launching an app. However, I really do not see the point of such a feature in a backup app? I mean, the whole point of the latest firmware was to make this functionality automatic. MemInfo itself was initally a diag util for Treo prior to the latest firmware. I realize though that it might be handy for certain apps like TomTom etc that occasionally fail to launch, but overall I think using meminfo to clear the dbcache occasionally is a much better and safer solution....

i grabbed meminfo, and will use it instead of blazer to clear the cache...faster that way!

Would it be better to flush it before the backup?

I use a combination of DBCacheTool and MemInfo and try to do a reset before the backup. Maybe I'm doing it backwards?

Backup programs need lots of free dbCache. Thus the need to free them up before Backup and after backup (for other programs). This should be handled now with the latest ROM's.

However, I do a warm reset before BU to ensure that no files are open and after backup to restore the funcioning of the Treo. I may not need to do this, especially if I turn off the Phone (Radio) before backup. Resco Explorer's Verify indicates that all files are copied correctly if I just turn off the Radio. However, a warm reset makes me _feel_ better about the backup :-)

What do you all mean when you speak of "the latest ROMS?"

As far as I know, 1.04 is the latest ROM for Verizon phones, and there's no magic bullet for dbCache in there.
