I was looking for a thread to put this into but then my head started to spin with so many threads to choose from..............O Hi Perry!

Was in sprint store and rep said same thing - 679 and said she did not think it was worth updating from the 650.

perhaps i should consider myself lucky that the 670 is worth the upgrade from my Sanyo flip phone D:

I think DOom works for the Shack. Can he verify? The pricing is different then what Jimmie the Geek promised Print told him. Of course we knew he really had no other source then the pimply kiosk monkeys.

I was liking the $499 - 1 Yr contract, $399 -- 2 Year contract stuff that was flying around.

My sources have not confirmed any pricing.

any solid dates for gsm yet? I'm running service without a contract from t-mobile right now, but i'd like to flip to cingular on a 700p...or should I wait for what was to be "Hollywood"? I travel to europe at least once a year and I love being able to use my treo over there so as tempting as it is to jump to cdma and get instant gratification I just have to wait.

Zilch has been rumored or uncovered on this front other than the supposed "Hollywood." Although we did briefly have some pics posted. If you forced me to guess -- and I do mean guess -- I would go with August.

    Cheers, Perry.

I'm sorry but they will lose a majority of their potential buyers if it's $579 with a 2-year contract. If it is indeed that much I will be getting the blackberry 8700g.

With my 650 out of commission I don't have much choice but to pony up the money. At least Sprint has allotted me a $300 credit.

In your case it makes sense, but if you had a 650 in good shape and no credit to work with, would you pony up the $679 for the 700P?

Well with 8% sales tax am looking at $734 out the door. The only area I see this price justified from the 700w is the resolution and memory.

No, I really would not (sorry Perry). I am an early adopter, but only to a point. I early adopt, and then I tweak until perfect, and then I keep it for a long time because (a) I fall in love with the thing; (b) it takes me awhile to gear up again for the challenge of learning and tweaking the next new thing (I enjoy it, but I become somewhat obsessed with it); and (c) products with new technology are being released much more often than even a few years ago -- I just can't afford to keep updating.

If, the main difference between the "W" and "P" is the OS, then what justifies a price of almost $200 more for the "P". Are we just sheep (I'll leave the noble Lemming out of this) being led to the slaughter?? This just makes me mad. So what will I say to Sprint and Palm come May 28th? Well, I for one will probably be saying......BAAA

Wow, I would pay $1679 for the added 32 mb of memory and EVDO. This phone will be a steal at $679. Sprint will not even have to give me a rebate. If they send the check I will just send it endorsed to Ed C for him as I know Palm will have to invest a lot in a new model they will be selling me in 12 more months with maybe......(gasp!)wifi!!! and a multi-tasking OS!!!

WM devices have always been higher due to MS licensing. How can a POS device be more than a WM device unless the bundled software is upping the price like Docs to Go, PTunes Deluxe, etc.

Added 32mb and EVDO is not worth $1679. With respect...thats crazy. I am a sports car fanatic, and the money I have tossed turning my cars into beasts was rediculus but within its threashold of sanity. Wifey gave me the go for a new vette, but it won't be the Z06...too much money...and I love cars as much as others love devices, yet I am still debating on heading down that road for another sports car.
