    I d like to fix the jack on my 650, but I can't seem to be able to take the phone appart. after removing all the screws (including the one by the stylus), the phone still doesn't comme appart to give me access to the jack. plz help

    Not sure, but it seems like the solder points are OK.
    could it be that the jack itself is bad or is it that the solder points are bad without being 'obviously' bad?

    Palm cut corners and spec'd a cheap jack (probably assuming most treo users would just use bluetooth instead), http://treotricks.blogspot.com/ has instructions on how to replace a defective jack. It's not that hard if you're accustomed to servicing your own equipment

    Hopefully, Palm will speck a better jack on the 700p.

    took the 650 appart, solded and everything, and then found out that the fault was NOT the phone jack but... the adaptor!!!!

    oh, that hurts
    well, i know that its too late, but if you browse through the forum, you'll read that the jack socket is a bit faultily designed. a little bit of tampering with the headset jack solves the problem.
    anyway, i hope your treo got back together without much problems.
    and look at it positively, you have practiced opening the treo, so when you really have to open the treo for some other purpose, you'll be able to do it blindfolded :-)
    as for warranty, who knows, maybe you'll get yourself the next version of treo before the official warranty time runs out.
