Sorry about some of my brethren. We tend to be a little overly sensitive when it comes to multiple postings on the same subject. Anal? Perhaps. The way it is? Yep, and no amount of posts and arguments will convince us otherwise.
Mainly because its hard for us to lower our thought process' to that of a 13 year old waiting for Mommy to leave the room so he can j@ck-off real quick.

What many of you "hard core" forumites must not realize is the way many others of us approach this site. When we visit - say, every couple of days or so - we scroll down for the first couple of pages, stopping to read whatever posts sound interesting. We don't "search" for specific topics - we're just scrolling down to see if something catches our eye.

Methad's post was perfect for me... I had missed the original post, and now was informed of an extremely important rumor. He even provided the link to engadget for me to check it out myself.

I understand wanting to keep some orderliness to the board, and I would also agree that the initial rebuke was not as harsh as it could have been.

So, having said all this, have I changed the understanding of any of the forum "leaders"? Probably not.

Am I the only one who finds this ironic??? Chaz made a simple post...

Chaz was also far from rude. All he did was point out that contrary to the OP's belief, the topic had been previously posted. Perfectly acceptable response.

no, you should always do a search like the majority of users as it states here because if you dont, then when other users actually do a search they will get alot of threads that are talking about the same thing,in which case we can prevent if everybody takes a couple of minutes instead of posting the same thing, sometimes there are 5+ threads on the same topic, now is that fair to the common user?

    I do.

When searching for something what is more work.

    1. Doing a serach and fnding the information you want clearly organized in one location.

    2. Doing a search and finding the relevant information scattered all over the place.

Is it better to stick all the forks in a single section of the utensil drawer, or is it better to throw them, along with the spoons and knives and other odds / ends in any section, or in any drawer, why not under the bed ? Who cares if other people in the house can't find them ?

Maybe when I am done with a drill bit, I should stick it back in the screw driver case....and throw the 3 sockets I just used for my bike tuneup back in my dremel case. Who cares if the next person who needs the tool wastes 20 minutes looking for the correct tool accessory ?

Do you put all your socks in one drawer or do you just throw them randomly wherever they might land ? Put all the soups in one cabinet except for chicken soup which you stick in the cabinet with the pots ?

It's simple organization and courtesy which makes it easy for others to expect to find things they are looking for in some logical order and place. I am not going to get militant about it or rank on peeps but I do appreciate it when forum users are considerate of other users.

I throw them wherever they might land. Used to drive my wife nuts. Of course I am divorced now.
