    Hi there ,
    I have unbranded unlocked Treo 650 ,
I want to put the most new updated custom rom 1.2 (the one which you guys use and was tested successfuly) and use FAT32 for better performance.

    couple of questions :
    1. If i dont have the original usb cabel , but isntead have usb sync/charge cable (without the sync button on it) - can I still install the rom (I don't know how to get to the rainbow screen without the stock cable.)

    2. where can I download the custom (tested :-) ) 1.2 rom ?

    3. Searched and didnt find - Any good guide posted (step by step) how to install the new rom and then format the SD to fat32 ?

    thnx guys ,
    Keep the good work !!!

Go to Palm1's site for the original ENA120 rom, download it to PC, make the fat32 mod, and upload it back to treo.

The process is very clean and easy if you follow the instructions with the RomTools. I had mine running with FAT32 and rom with junk cleaned out in a hour.

Quirk I found (unconfirmed by others) is: I have problem with MMPlayer reading the SD after FAT32 mod. I also found some quirks if you use zipped - again, unconfirmed by others so it could be just me doing things wrong.

Well it will be alot easier with a cable with a hotsync button. It is possible to jump two pins to do make it think the hotsync button is pushed while you reset. As stated here:

For Fat32 you can use this:

    PalmIII > PalmIIIx > PalmIIIxe > TRGPro > Handera 330 > Zire71 > Treo600 > Treo650 > Treo680 > Treo750 > Centro > TreoPro > iPhone 32GB 3GS

You don't have to get to the bootloader, but that is the safe way. If you can find an prebuilt SD update you want and is the right one for your phone you can go that way. To use the RomTool you do have to get to the bootloader. I would recommend going that route. I am not sure exactly what else you have to use with hotsync pin. I have always just used my cradle.
