Yes it rocognizes all 4gb. Technically 3.8 without the overhead.

To comment on your 2gb card, I too had a 2gb but performance was a lot better for me with the Fat32 vs. Fat16. It was already good in the first place so I guess Fat32 was not really that big of an advantage with a 2gb card.

i just installed a custom rom with the fat32 driver; i can vouch that my 4 gb sd card works, and card access times seem to have improved (although this is unscientific, unverified and purely anecdotal).

Remaining memory should be below 2 gig. Otherwise, you wont be able to record on the 4 gig card. I formated the card 32k instead of the standard 4k as this has been posted to increase card performance while sacrificing storage space. However, when I record videos past the 3 minute mark it doesn't get saved anymore. It just causes the camera app to hang. I've lost 2 good video clips of my son because of this. Im now backing up the 4 gig card using the echo mode of Synctoy (to preserve creation date stamps on each file). I'll format using Palm's card info app and I'll post back if this resolves the video saving problem.

Im using a Transcend 4 gig card. I got my built in Texas card reader (HP NX5000) to read 4 gig sd. Here's the link: http://www.leog.net/fujp_forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=10468

Hi MFB, how much space is sacrificed when you format a 4GB card with 32K as opposed to 4K?

I got my A-Data 4GB yesterday and noticed it was formatted 4K. I promptly formatted it 32K for performance reasons, but am curious to know how much is actually sacrificed.

There is a fix: format the SD card with 8k clusters. 16k and 32k clusters are faster, but they crash on saving large videos to the card. The default is 4k, so 8k is still an improvement in speed, if you absolutely need the direct-to-camera save.

From 32k down to 8k, I saved almost 100 mb. I suggest you format using 8k instead. However if the folder you're saving in has a lot of files, chances are the app will freeze even if you have formatted in 8k. This has happened to me already but was solved by saving in an empty folder.

To record with 4 gig, you should have at least 2 gig remaining. Camera app can then save to the card. I suppose the camera app only recognizes card size up to 2 gig. This solution was found in one of the threads here in TC.
Make sure to enable quick format so you wont get any bad sectors. 8k allows you to record directly to card while 32k just freezes the camera app if you're beyond 2 to 3 minutes. Best is still 4k
