Somewhere I remember something mentioned about TVGrid.com having a palm conduit for TV listings. I'm definite I did. I just can't find any info on it. Was I mistaken? If so, is there a way I can download the local listings w/o resorting to email posts from TVGrid (email - yuck).

I sync GIST tv listings via Avantgo.
My Treo has more memory than I do.

I used to use Gist TV also. However, I couldn't ever tweak it to show only the channels I wanted (i found set-up to be vaguely complicated)

and then, before i wasted too much time on it, i remembered--I never get to control the remote at my house anyway!!

I tried GIST for months and finally gave up. The timeframe options never worked properly. You may want to check out Whatson, http://www.zookware.com/doc.html
It's much better but has problems from time to time when TVGuide changes their formatting.

Haven't heard anything about TVGrid.com, sorry.

I'm getting increasingly annoyed with GIST. A couple of months ago they added new channels to my listing.

But now when I go to my GIST page, it lets me change the channels and whatnot, but the changes are ignored. If I hotsynch or if I return to my page, everything is just as if I had not changed anything.

I'm using Gist, but I'm irriated by the fact that it doesn't show episode synopses. I know when my favorite shows are on, I want to know if their repeats or if I should pick up a DVD on the way home from work. Tvguide.com has great episode synopses and is one of the available avantgto channels, but the Avantgo channel does not include the channel listing page of tvguide.com. Why is this? Is there a more important reason to visit tvguide.com then for the listings?

If you want the TV Guide listings try WhatsOn. It downloads the TVGuide.com listings as well as a brief description and is much more configurable than Gist on AvantGo. It will set you back $20 though.

Another option is to set up a personal page on Yahoo with the TV listings, choose the programs you want from the listings to be placed on your Yahoo calendar, and sync to your Visor. They usually have listings for about 10 days in advance. It takes a few minutes to keep up with it, but its a great way of making sure that your favorite show isn't a rerun! The listing carry a program synopsis and always indicate whether or not the program is new. I always know when I'm watching what I want to watch so I make sure I don't schedule any pesky little meetings or anything else that might get in the way!

I tried gisttv and it shows about an hour or twos worth of programming , then it cuts off and says something like too many channels and it just ends.

Any idea what's happening with that?

I haven't had any problems with my GIST TV AvantGo download. Once in awhile, I get the message that the conneciton timed out, but for the most part, I see all the channels that I've chosen. I wouldn't say that it's great though; the font could be smaller and a short synopsis link for each show would be nice. To be honest, I don't check it that often since I know what days my shows are on and have set the VCR for those shows (no Tivo yet or for the forseeable future).

I also use yahoo via avantgo. Plus with you "my.yahoo" you can get a lot more than tv listings. You can get scores, weather, movies, news, and stocks from you yahoo. And if your like me and have vindigo, you only used it for movies...now get rid of it...Happy palming.

I haven't tried in a few months; is it broke again?

I don't watch enough TV to make it worth $20 for me, and it's not very usefull until it is registered.

It's a great program when it works but it's at the mercy of TVGuide.com, and it breaks whenever they change their format.

I've been using DigiGuide here in the UK on my PC which works really well. You can get all terrestrial, satellite and radio listings and it'll auto-update itself as neccessary. Shareware/5 reg from http://www.digiguide.co.uk

You can channel it via AvantGo I beleive,on a dily basis, but I haven't tried it myself: I find it takes such an age to sync with AvantGo that I don't bother that often.

I did manage to get GistTV to accept my changes. Apparently it doesn't work well with Netscape, but will with Internet Explorer.

I'm still having problems with Gist. I deselected some channels and I start at 8pm, but everytime I sync, I get listings for 8 and 8:30, but someone in the middle of 9pm, it cuts off saying "too many channels", it lists my email addr as my profile and then some cryptic stuff. Probably have over 40 channels selected, but I'm sure you guys have that too.

I have plenty of memory on my dlx left and it looks like gist is only taking up like 4k anyhow.

    It's never worked for me.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks!
    Lex
