You couldn't find any threads huh? Yeah, I suppose that makes sense, as there are only like 500 VersaMail threads out there...

I get it now .... and I agree , for it's time, the 600 was the "Cadilac" !

I love my 6700 and prefer it to the 650 for my needs, but it's not a clear-cut favorite even in my opinion. There are moments when I look for 6700 prices on eBay or 650-6700 trade listings on craigslist. Very few fleeting moments, but they are there. Strong accolades for a 1.5-yr old phone that is clearly outmatched on the spec sheet.

Having said that, if someone was going to buy their FIRST smartphone tomorrow, I would recommend the 650 with no reservations.

For its time?? It still is! Yeah, you may have BT and twice the screen resolution but you try and crack the 650, with that flimsy plastic battery cover, over some goons head in a bar fight and a broken nose isn't the only thing you're likely to go home with.

Now that is self explanatory answer. Or in short NO.
Technological superiority has never won a product battle. If that were the case we would all be flying in supersonic Concordes and using Apple computers.

The key to winning the battle is a combination of price, convenience, marketing, sound business model and a bit of luck.

Actually back in my bartending days I did foil a mugger with my phone...after closing up one night, I was assulted while getting int car with cash drawer. I grabbed my phone and smashed the guy with it.

Thing is...this was early 1980's and a car phone weighed about 4-5 pounds. It was like those first AT&T wall phones but sat on the car console .... black .... maybe 6" wide by 10" long by 4-5" high with regular handset that sat on top of a cradle with two little buttons that "hang up" and a fat coiled wire between the base and the handset.

Kids, if you want to try this at home today, get a HTC Universal or one of those old Hitachi G1000s.

The Universal will be too nice and expensive for that, but I'd definitely crack a G1000 over someone's head.

You'd seriously dent a skull with one of those.

I remember wanting one...came thisclose to getting one instead of my 600.

No, in my opinion! Granted there are other PDA devices out there, there isn't one that does what the 650 does easily and as efficiently. I am not going to get into details cause it already has been done here. I just wanted to offer my opinion! As worthless as it may be, or none the less.....

Was watching history channel the other night and they were doing the final battle of Revolutionary War. If I amneded your quote there to fit the show's pesentation:

"If It Weren't For The United States Military and the French Navy"
"There Would Be NO United States of America"

I never quite realized how much of a part the French played in that battle and in the war in general.

And it wasn't you I smacked with the phone..,..for one you'd be 60 years old by now and I never hit anyone with military haircuts:

    1. Respect
    2. They generally tougher than you are
    3. They like it.

    No. 3 is the biggie

I think you made a typo. You mean the 600 is superior, right?
