All of a sudden, I have started receiving the following message when I try to duplicate a contact:

The data storage of the handheld is full

Now, how can that be when I have 12.9 mb free of a total 23.7 mb's?

I also noticed that my phone is crashing/resetting every time I scroll through contacts.

    What the hell?

I hardly have any 3rd party apps:

    Datebk5/6
    Dir Assist
    Snapper Mail
    BackupMan
    PdaReach
    PdaNet
    Volkeys
    VolumeCare
    YAHM
    Eric's Blackjack
    Casino
    4cast
    AlwaysOn
    BigClock
    CarPal
    dbScan
    FileZ
    FlightStatus
    Froggy
    HandZipperLite
    JpegWatchLite
    KeyCaps
    Loan Helper
    LoanCalc
    LoveCalc
    PowerUp
    SoundRec
    TAC
    WebViewer

Can anyone help? FYI...I have not installed any of these apps recently. They have all been installed for quite awhile..and now all of a sudden this crap starts!!!!!

Well that is quite a list.....Datebook and Snapper tend to use more memory space (that's cause they do more stuff), have been known to be related to issues on occassion or have databases that can get too large corrupted.

    YAHM.... well that's self explanatory.

However I suspect that the problem is more associated with the contacts database. Have you ?

    1. Run dbscan
    2. Deleted address db and restored via hotsync (backup 1st)
    3. Soft / Warm reset ?

How many contacts do you have ?

    I second Jack's post.

In addition, I suspect the message is referring to storage heap, not RAM (which is where you have 12.9 MB free) . A soft reset should free up storage heap; if not, you probably have way too much stuff running in the background (alarms, mail auto-fetch, etc.). Search for Memory info (a freeware app) and use it to see what your free storage heap looks like, and to flush it if necessary.

    1. Ran dbscan...it found a few small "calendar" errors and corrected/deleted them

    2. I will try to delete "address db" when I get home and hopefully that will work

    3. I did a soft reset, but not a warm reset. I will try a warm reset at home

    I have around 300 contacts.

But, what I still don't get is why am I showing "memory full" when I have 12.9mb free and it this happens all of a sudden??

Thanks for all the suggestions...I really appreciate it.

See post #3 above. It's talking about storage heap, not RAM. See this post for more info on the different types of memory.

    Thanks Guys!!!!

Where would I be without you?? Palm's Web support is useless/hopeless. I still haven't fixed the problem, but now I know where to start.

Any other ideas, please keep them coming!!!

    Thanks again everyone.

PICTURES. Move them to the SD card. They are stored in cache if you leave them in main memory. You can eventually cause your Treo to no longer run any program and you will ahve to hard reset to use your Treo again.

Run meminfo and p0st the results. Do a soft reset and then copact from the options and see what changes.

I did and I got nearly the same results before and after.

What ended up solving the problem was I went through all my contacts and deleted many of them and I also edited some of them. That solved the "crashing contacts" problem and the "memory full" issue.

This was after I deleted and re-installed SEVERAL apps and also did a soft then warm then hard reset. It didn't fix anything. I also deleted the addressdb file.

    Thanks guys!!!
