I've had Sprint since '01, and they've been mostly good to me. I move around a lot and the *18 option really helps

I m looking at the socal service map for sprint:
    http://activate.sprintpcs.com/maps/m...anDiego_CA.gif

it says on the website that light green areas are 'roaming zones', and that extra charge/minute may occur.. (vzw doesn t charge for that).

there are LOTS of light-green area on this map (acutally, most of the map is light green).. does it mean that everytime I m in one of these light-green zone I ll be charged extra?

You'll be charged if you use the phone. Merely "roaming" won't cost anything. Sprint does offer a Roaming upgrade, for five or ten dollars a month. As long as 51% of your calls are on Sprints network, you're not charged roaming.

(And if can get a SERO plan, the roaming plan is included free.)

But keep in mind, look at that map. Most of that area is in the middle of the desert, or up in the mountains.

I wish I could get a sero plan.. I guess I could hang out at the fast food close to the sprint store . no time for this, unfortunately.

compare with the VZW map.. the yellow is NON-roaming zone....

btw, is data accessible in roaming zones with Sprint?

Data isn't accessible. If you get one of the Fair and Flexible plans you aren't charged for roaming.

I would imagine you could go into a Sprint store, and ask typical curious customer type questions. I'm sure they'll try and convince you into switching. You now have a "referral." Ask for his/her card, and grab a few others if they have some on the counter. If they have an @sprint.com address on their card...hmmmm.

No. You can't even use data while roaming.
