    OK, here's my experience.

It works fine with my S-35 clip as a stereo headset, sound seems fine, stable, easy to enable/disable. However some movies that play fine without it running badly dropped frames and stuttered when it was running. Setting the quality to Medium helped a bit, but still made it pretty unwatchable. I'm not sure what size/bitrate the movies were encoded at, I'll have to try a few others and examine them a bit more closely.

MP3's seem to play fine for the most part, no degredation as in the movies, and even streaming pMusic Shoutcast streams (32kps) seemed to work well.

Now when a call comes in, even though the S-35 is setup as a hands free device (in Palm's BT manager/setup) it rings on the phone itself and like "yatbond's" experience it doesn't return to the music/movie after I answered the call. One time when the phone rang it crashed/rebooted. My Treo (Cingular GSM) almost never reboots, but I hadn't used in weeks (been dabbling on the WM dark side with an HP6515) and maybe it just needed a "flushing" since it hasn't happened again with about 10 call tests.

Also not surprising if an audio source is already playing you can't re-direct it to BT headphones (program hangs) without stopping the source and re-directing it and re-starting the audio source.

Anyway, my conclusion for now is not bad for $20. Not sure if I'll buy it, with the phone call problems, and the (early conclusion) that it takes too many CPU cycles to watch movies with it.

But heck I'm not sure I'm even keeping my Treo as my HP6515 already has reliable (handles phone calls gracefully) built-in A2DP from HP (and built-in TomTom-GPS, video streaming of my home cable TV, two SD card slots, yada, yada, yada) but still kind of cool that somebody is doing it all for a reasonable $20.00.

Why would it? You people with BT headsets just kill me.

Softick Audio Gateway captures digital audio from Palm OS audio subsystem and redirects it to the Bluetooth A2DP device:

Bluetooth stereo headphones or bluetooth stereo headsets
Desktop PC with a2dp drivers installed
    Bluetooth car stereo kit
    A2DP Speakers.
The operative word being STEREO. Any headset would also have to support A2DP.

Just bought Motorola HT820 bluetooth stereo headphones.

Unfortunately, I have to wait till it charges to see if they work.

It took a couple of attempts to pair it with Bluetake BT 420. I had to warm-reset and delete the Bluetooth device cache and settings to pair the Treo and the BT420.

Anyhow, stereo music is working fine. I have to now see how the combination will handle voice calls (incoming and outgoing).

Not bad for something that we thought was not possible with this hardware...

Is there AVRCP support? Can you control the media player via the headset?

Georgy from Softick just responded to my AVRCP support request, no AVRCP support yet but they're investigating how to implement it.

If it smoothly switch back to regular headphone when a call come in, when I may still buy it. My 2.5mm jack is dying.

I received this information from Softick support. I wanted to know if using Audio Gateway would interfere with normal Headset/Handsfree profile operation. Their response is very encouraging:
"we have tried to handle incoming/outgoing calls situation correctly. We are disconnecting Treo from the A2DP stream and connecting it back after call is finished."
We'll need to experiment with the software and various headphones to figure out just how well it works, but I, for one, am thrilled and amazed with the Softick team. I was sure this couldn't be done, and, man, was I wrong! Kudos Softick!

I am having some trouble with the handoff from audio to voice (incoming calls) with BT420EX. I have e-mailed the details to Gregory.

I think they will have to include white-papers on how to deal with different headsets. Each headset presents unique quirks and workarounds. Luckily, BT420EX is one of the sets that they have and have tested... I expect this to get resolved over the next few days...

Has anyone got the Sony Ericson 662 to work..........This is not fair.

Can anyone who is using it successfully try it with Audible?

Wonder if they can also solve the issue with initiating voice dial with a BT headset?

    Palm III > HS Visor > Treo 600 > Treo 650 > Treo 750 > Treo Pro > PrePlus GSM

"95% of all software issues are due to USER ERROR."

Alright, I was able to get my Motorola bluetooth stereo headphones to work using TCPMP for movies and Pocket Tunes for music.

Aprasad, were you able to connect to phone calls at all? When it comes to phone calls, my headphones just aren't connecting to the call.

If I try to go back to listening to music, I have to uninstall the AudioGateway and start over. Hopefully, the developer will be able to solve these issues if I send them an email.

Despite the problem I'm having with phone calls using the Motorola HT820, the audio sounds good using the AudioGateway. The program does seem to slow the Treo's response slightly.

Here is what I e-mailed to Softick. Gregory confirmed that they hare having trouble with making the BT420EX intercept voice calls. They have been able to do this successfully with other headsets.

They are investigating the "reconnect to A2DP after voice calls" phenomena.

I have very positive feelings about this product. The problem is the non-uniform implementation of BT features across various headsets.
    ==========
    1. the volume buttons on the BT430EX are not functional. The volume setting in pTunes has to be used

    2. If the volume in pTunes is reduced to the very minimum, the headset volume jumps to maximum!! If the volume is set to the next higher (using up/down on the 5-way) the volume reduces to a low setting,

    3. When answering an incoming callm the headset is non-functional. The phone rings and the phone mic and speaker are usable. The BT420 is totally useless for voice calls.

    4. an incoming call disconnects the BT connection. After the call is over, I have to re-establish the BT connection by pausing pTunes. When I run AudioGateway, I see the msg " No Bluetooth connection present, try to reconnect". I tap OK and then get the audiogateway screen. Remote is already highlighted. I tap remote again to re-establish connection. The Treo resets. #*377 says : A reset was causes while running AudioGateway-SwSs. Fatal Exception.

After the reset I repeated the test with the incoming phonecall. Again, on terminating the call, I had to re-establish BT connection by running AudioGateway and tapping internal and then Remote.
