Previous versions would not work with my Verizon 650, but this version works great. Thanks mmastrac for such a great tool!

The RomTool would reconvert and give you your md5 your fine. You would have a blinking treo if there was a problem. In future just use the RomTool

    Understood, thank you.

Ah, now I see. My first impression was that you used only Windows Explorer without any tool then later I was really surprised that you got it to apparently work at all.

A little history, Shadowmite created the first tool and mmastrac created the current ROM tool which basically does what Shadowmite's tool does but with a more user friendly interface and many more bells and whistles.

Hearty thanks should go to Shadowmite, mmastrac and a number of people like jamesgangut above who participated in the development of these tools and have spent so much time helping all the rest of us understand and get the most out of them.

Thanks for all the hard work it went into creating this tool. I just downloaded and uploaded a custom ROm in less than 15minutes.

DBCache was: 3500 now is 6700
    many thanks.

So with mmastrac tool you can also alter the ROM, I thought it was just for extracting and applying it, I thought you still used shadow tool to edit it.

    The RomTool replaces Shadow's tool.

To modify ROM's now you just download to directory. Remove & add what you want then upload that directory again. The nice thing is it is done in the bootloader so it is safer.

Hi... I was trying out this ROMTool thingy and it seems that it had stuck at the bootloader portion and refuses to go further. I do not have any password security, thus am not sure how to get this to work correctly with my Treo.

    The log shows -
    19/3/2006 05:55:39 PM Treo 650 ROM Tool v0.9.7.0
19/3/2006 05:55:39 PM Checking for version updates...
19/3/2006 05:55:39 PM Waiting for phone...
    19/3/2006 05:55:39 PM Update URL: http://grack.com/romtool/updatecheck
19/3/2006 05:55:39 PM Found phone, waiting for bootloader
19/3/2006 05:55:40 PM Update site says latest version is v0.9.7
    19/3/2006 05:55:40 PM Program is up-to-date

With Device Status - Found phone, waiting for bootloader

And on the treo, it's bootloader v0.22

Anything else that we have to looking out for, for this to work?

Er... Do I have to remove the SD Card??

Finally got up the nerve to tinker with this after reading here on TC for a couple hours. Works great, what a wonderful tool.

Thanks to all those involved in the developement and test.

One question, as I built and rebuilt several times, taking this and that out, I noticed on several occassions when building the ROM that the ROM was too BIG. This always happened after deleting files (using Windows explorer.) Here is what I would get:

    ROM to Big
    Largest ROM Size -1,127,027,328,000 (yes a -1,127,027,328,000)
    Current ROM Size 6,192,287
    Wasted Space n/a

Each time I got this message the Largest ROM Size would be -1,127,027,328,000, and the Current ROM Size would be correct. To get around this, when I knew it was not too big, I would have to exit the ROMTOOL, restart it and rebuild from the same directory, then it would be correct.

Just wondering if there was something I was doing or has this been seen by others?

    It is Ver 0.9.7.0

Does it show that errorneous number when the applications starts, or only after refreshing?
