    Hi folks:

I recently got a Thinmodem, which ships with a 10 day trial version of MultiMail Pro. I like the software, and from what I can see it looks like one of the most full-featured packages out there.

I'm just balking a bit at the $40 price...are there packages out there with good full feature sets, but are less pricey, or even better, free??

I'm feeling like having my cake and eating it too...

    Regards,
    Chris

I like Eudora for both Email and for Web access. I really like both of them and have not had any problems. Give them a try. http://www.eudora.com

You will see the links for their palm applications...

Although it's no longer free ($30, in fact), Corsoft's Aileron (at http://www.corsoft.net) is my personal favorite. It uses the built-in Palm mail database so you can easily answer e-mails that were originally downloaded to your PC but have then been synced to your Visor. Furthermore, it recently added readers from Dataviz that let you see Word, Excel and text attachments.

I agree that Eudora's an excellent freeware program -- though if you want to sync it with your desktop they charge for that add-on. And, I've found, that if you DO want to sync your desktop e-mail with MultiMail or Eudora (and I've purchased BOTH of those conduits) neither seems to work properly (at least for me). For example, in Eudora I find that if I download e-mails onto my Palm and then later retrieve the same messages from my server with my desktop, even after I've deleted those messages from the desktop -- thinking that they'll also be deleted from the Visor -- this has NEVER worked properly!!

    I guess that's why I recommend Aileron!!

Actually, Eudora's conduit is free if you use their desktop client in either the Sponsored (free, full-featured, with ads in the corner) or Paid (full-featured, no ads) modes. More info at http://www.eudora.com/internetsuite/.

I've been using Eudora's desktop client for years and recently (literally, this week) got the Palm version and the conduit, and so far so good. Then again, no modem for my VPL, so by default everything has been downloaded to the desktop and only transferred to the VPL by HotSync.
