    Carolina,

Resco Backup rocks. Restores Java too if you use Kmaps or Opera Mini or..
    Palm III > HS Visor > Treo 600 > Treo 650 > Treo 750 > Treo Pro > PrePlus GSM

"95% of all software issues are due to USER ERROR."

Try Palm Commander as a backup utility & file manager for free. I would list this one among the best free file managers.

Other utilities while I'm at it:

Alt Key: use the alt key to bring up the command bar (attached, found on Treocentral)
Aftersync: return to whatever app you want after a hotsync
LEDOFF: control the LED light better
Snap! Clip: automates 'command-bar' pop-up when you select strings. Then you can easily 'cut', 'copy' or 'paste' without any operation

And the traditional others: Radio State, Keyshades, Handzipper Lite, RLock,KeyguardTime+, KeyCaps, etc (I would download all of these at mytreo.net). All of my recommendations are freeware.

OnGuard (updated today BTW) augments.....it backs up a phone number the instant after you enter it....covers you between backups with BUB or whatever.

If you interested in web based backup, think there is still room in bluenomad's web based beta program.

I suggst you try them all and see which one you like best. I just finished a trial with resco explorer and deleted it. Probably more of me being used to something else but I found it too "busy".

    I would add

    Treoselectext -- v4.1 -- 5$
    Author -- http://www.ranosoft.net/
    Download at http://www.palmgear.com/index.cfm?fu...e&prodID=53530

Announced a must-have by the Treo 600/650 users! Select/Highlight text with the 5-Way Rocker. Dial selected numbers pressing Shift+Center

=> I find it very userful for copy / paste text. A must have!

Wow! This is great! Very useful for doing precision highlight! TreoSelectText in combination with ClipPro is a huge convenience for me! I paid for both these programs, and now I can highlight and select easily without pulling out the stylus, plus I can select a huge amount of text with ClipPro without getting that d@mn clipboard exceeded error message. I also do tons of copying and pasting, and now I can do so very easily!

I was cleaning up my Treo this weekend and accidentally deleted some files that enabled KeyGuardTime+. I couldn't access this program over the weekend and I realized how often I use it to check the time, battery level, memory usage, calendar events, whatever. Great little utility, and free!

    KeyGuardTime+
    v5.1.2 (12/17/05)
    Freeware ($0)
    Developer: Tom Talpey
(Note: The original Keyguard Time was written by "Palm Dev Software" (aka mytreo.net member DavSnook). This redeveloped KGT+ version was significantly enhanced by mytreo.net Associated Developer TMT for the Treo 600/650, extending many of the original program's functions and settings. )
    Download location: http://mytreo.net/downloads/details-...eyguardTime%2B

    Very handy app

I wish I could add something to the list. I use apps like Warden, Agendus, Agendus Mail SSL, etc. But I seem to be one of the few people that doesn't have issues with them. I've tried three apps for card security, too, but they all seem to eventually mess up the secured data - very unreliable and a potential headache.

For me, though, they're all stable and do what they say. So would be happy to post the info if it fits in with the "must haves"

The apps in your original post have all been around for a while and seem stable for 99% of Treo users. It kind of sets a high mark for the newer, "close but no cigar" apps.

    MonthPlanner 3.1.2
At last I can ditch the memory hogging Agendus, it accepts the Agendus icon sets & can be launched from the card.
caveat: It disallow events panning midnight, & does not support 'Tasks' alarm, but I gain more that 1200kb of the precious DBCache Memory.

Planners fall into the realm of Palm Apps rather than Utilities I think......but have you tried TMP from Lil Red SPider ? It was Palm24/7's "Best App of the Year" award winner.

Trying to keep the list focused on Utilities .... original plan was to have similar threads for "enhancements", "core app replacements", "communications" etc....but just haven't gotten around to it yet.

This is a great thread. I see many must have softwares posts, but being new, I have no idea what some of those softwares do.

As I purchase and try new softwares, I will post my 2 cents worth.

    Thanks!

EzRocker 1.2 $9.90 a virtual mouse pointer for Palm OS

You can move a virtual pointer in all directions and do action (i.e. as stylus tap) by using the center button.

It's very useful in applications that don't handle 5-way navigation and it's even faster and more accurate than the standard "control to control" 5-way navigation.

EzRocker is no longer available from PalmGear (now PocketGear). I am so depressed. I really want to pay for it!
