I bought the USB Sandisk card and have a dumb question: How can I transfer what is on the SD card that is already in my Treo to the new card, without losings apps or data? Is there a simple way to make this transfer?

If you have an sd card reader, copy everything to a folder on your pc with the same folder name on the card, then copy that exact folder onto the new card?

I can think of two ways to do it. If I thought about it some more, there are probably other ways. Or someone else can probably think of another way.

Way 1 - find a computer that has a card reader on it and an open USB 2.0 port. Stick your old card in the card reader, stick the SanDisk USB card in the available USB 2.0 port, and copy the first to the second. Or copy the old card to your computer in a folder, then pull it out of the card reader, put in the SanDisk USB card and copy the stuff back onto the new card.

Way b - Use Blue Nomad's BackupBuddy 2 for Windoze. Back up your Treo WITH the old SD card in it. Then restore the backup with the new SanDisk USB card in it. Make sure the "Backup Card as well as internal stuff" option is turned on. BackupBuddy 2 is available as a trial demo from their site, but I can't remember if anything about it is crippled or if it just times out after X days unless you pay for it.

I did roughly the same. I made a new folder called "Card Backup'>Then put the non-usb card in the SD card reader on my laptop>copied *.* to the new folder 'Card Backup'>Put the USB SD into the USB slot>then copied *.* to the SD card in the USB port.

P.S. My cards name is 'Card' which is the standard/default name. If you have a different name for your card you should, put the card in your Treo>Open 'Card Info' on your Treo from the programs menu>Menu button>Select 'Rename Card or 'Menu+R'>Name the card the exact same as old card(i.e. old card is 'Bastard1', new card should be named 'Bastard1'). In other words the card won't function properly if the SD card is named the same.

I have been using this card for a week or so, and I have to say that it lives up to expectations. I highly recommend buying it.

Costs are in the mid $30's at newegg for older 1 GB cards

I'd say the USB adds $50 in functionality. It's that cool.

I just recieved mine yesterday and it is not working. I am new to Treo and have the 650. I searched the forum by "Sandisk Ultra II" 150+ forums. Most of the recent post were about special offers. My issue is as follows. I transferred a few mp3s and some pictures from my Mac ibook g4 to the Sandisk. On the sandisk already was a DCIM, DXTG, and a PALM folder. I tried inserting all of my transferred data into each of the folders and then inserting the card into my palm. When I select card on my phone it is empty. I emailed Sandisk with this info and have not recieved any answeres so I thought that I would turn it over to the pros.

On a side note should I have posted this as a new thread. I am also a newbie to forums. I have been living in a box trying to hide from the Bush regime.

    Thanks for all your help.

After using a 4GB card with my Treo for a few days, I don't I could withstand going back to 1Gb which seems absolutely miniscule in comparison now... I wonder how long it will take manufacturers to release 2 or 4GB SD/usb cards?

    Tim,
Did you format the card on your PC? If so, make sure you pick "FAT" as the format. Otherwise, a Windows box will format it in FAT32 (or perhaps NTFS) which the Treo can't read (absent using some hacks like Gfunk uses to use the 4 gigger).
