I'm having difficulties accessing my e-mail account with Yahoo via versamail. I was told that since yahoo does not operate on a POP3, its going to be impossible to access. Would anyone be able to tell me if this is true or not? If not, I would be appreciative if someone would walk me through the set up of my yahoo account via versamail. Thank you in advance.

Not true. Yahoo does offer pop3, but you have to pay to get pop3 access. I think it is like $20 a year, plus you get a bigger email box. If you have SBC Yahoo service, then you should get pop3 access for free.

Of course, you can get pop3 access for free with gmail.

Go to palm's support page for instructions on setting up yahoo email on versamail. It is very easy.

Just use Yahoo's mobile site over the web. Works pretty well.

How do you do that with Versamail? I tried to set it up and it didn't work.
Well, it isn't perfect and it makes me crazy, but I still do love my Treo!

Doesn't work. You sure you didn't have to change any other settings?? I get: "-ERR Error logging in. Please visit http://mail.yahoo.com"

Yahoo charges for pop access, and you might have to pay.

Their is a free alternate, it a open source software called ypop. It gives you free pop to you yahoo web mail attachments and all. Search google for it

true. as i forementioned, i have a SBC/Yahoo DSL account, and i think they provide pop3 for free. i am using my scbglobal.net email address and i have no paid for anything, other than my normal DSL services.

i basically use the pop3 for sending photos to people. but i just use yahoo.com in blazer to access my mail that way. (i.e. i use my yahoo as my primary email and sbcglobal.net email solely for sending data/images. this way i do not have to subscribe to the 'send photos' service for Sprint.)

    to add:

    1. mail service, choose : Yahoo! (not SBC)
    2. username put "XXXXX@sbcglobal.net" (meaning to include the sbcglobal.net, not just the username). also put "XXXXX@sbcglobal.net" on the next screen for the email address. my point here is to put the "sbcglobal.net" in the username on both screens.
    try that.

I am hopelessly tied to yahoo mail for a number of reasons, so I've signed up for the mail Plus to have POP access. I've configured my connection in VersaMail to the specs provided by Yahoo. I'm still getting an error "-ERR Error Logging in. Please visit http://mail.yahoo.com". Any guesses out there?

When setting up my versa mail to access Yahoo I did NOT select yahoo under mail service. I choose "other" and "imap" under protocol. All other settings are as described earlier and it works fine for me. I do not have paid yahoo.

There are YPOPS for Windows, Mac and other OS'es, but apparently not for Palm OS.

I'm on T-Mobile. In Versamail, trying to set up a new account, and I type in my Yahoo account, I'm told that Yahoo does not support unpaid POP. On the next screen I set IMAP, but I don't know what entries to use for the server. I tried a couple of URLs that show up when I'm in Ymail, but they don't work. So - Versamail is definitely not doing the job.

    For Yahoo IMAP in Versamail:

    email address: yourusername@yahoo.com
    Password: your password
    Mail Type: IMAP
    Incoming Mail Server: imap.mail.yahoo.com
    Outgoing mail server: smtp.mail.yahoo.com

I don't use my yahoo email account for sending, but receiving definitely works, and I have the free account. Good luck.

Thanks! Receiving works. I'll check sending, but I think it may also be the imap server...the smpt entry does not work. Don't have too much time for this right now - so far (about a minute) no send err message with imap server entry.
    Thanks again!!
