I rely heavily on Datebook +, which came with my VDX. Any point in downloading the Datebook 3 and/or Datebook 4 programs from pimlico software?

Obviously, it would use memory. Are there features that make it worthwhile?

I would test it out... at the worst case, you have about 400K being used. It pulls from the main datebook database and does add in a lot of functionality but it depends on if you use any of it.

Another recommendation, try using ActionNames... 4.54 is the latest.

There have been so many write-ups about Datebooks, and Word Processors for the palm I am sure if you are weary of installing you could read enough to add some background knowledge before a decision.

I also recommend action names over datebk4. get it at http://www.iambic.com

IMHO Datebk4 blows Datebook+ right out of the water. It is well worth the money.

Here are a couple of reviews, including an ActionNames vs Datebk4 comparision:

I appreciate the responses...I had previously tried Action Names, but really liked the look of Datebook+ and would prefer to keep the same format. (You know, old dogs, new tricks, etc, etc)
I'll take a look at the articles and previous postings.

Datebk4 is great! I find new ways to use it almost everyday. It adds functionality to and integrates most of the standard apps.

It's a little daunting to use at first because of all the features, but you don't have to use them all right away. They also have a great support/user forum with a large number of knowledgable contributers.

    It's worth a look!

What is the latest version of DateBK4 and where can I get it? I love DateBK4 but it has many bugs that I hope they could fix it in later versions.

    Thanks

    Al

    PS: I have DateBk4 V-4.0d,p5

    Thanks, Rolando!

Also, I have had several fatal error and accompanying resets since installing Datebook 4. It appears to occur when I am switching using the hard buttons on the bottom--I went with the option to associate Datebook 4 with the buttons.

Anyone else have this problem? In the meantime, I'll check the forum.

I reported this problem to the author and he keeps denying it because he said only few people have reported it. This is what I wrote.

"Another problem is that when I tap on an empty line in the first view
and without writing any thing I press the up/down hardware button I
get a Fatal Alert, which leads me to a soft reset using the back hole
    of my PDA.

Also, I would like to see more compatibility with Chrome (Black
Background.) Since many people use this option to read better in a
Color PDA I believe it is very useful.
I hope this helps to improve DateBk4"

    THis is what he said:

"If you feel 100% convinced that this is a real problem (even though the tiny
number of people who have reported this problem have NEVER been able to
trace it to a flaw in DateBk4), I'll need a precise copy of your preference
settings since that would guarantee that the problem is reproducible if it
were a flaw in the software."

I had to think really hard before paying for the DateBk4 version. I finally swallowed and went for it... I'm very pleased, and I wouldn't think of going back. Things are seamless and so functional. Very slick. It's definitely in the "recommended" category for me.

Now that I have the stowaway, i wish that Datebk 4 had better keyboard support.
    Any tips?
  14. #14
My biggest problem with the stowaway and Datebk4 is that I can't find a way to open a memo from the split screen. Even if I have the line highlighted, there seems to be no command to open/edit the memo and "return" does nothing.

Yes. Do not over-analyize this. It is only 25 bucks and does not really use that much memory. The program is fantastic. Second to silver screen, probably the best out there. Enjoy life and splurge.
