Everyone w/ a Mac - If you can't wait, find a PC to Update or just install the needed files manually as discribed in this and the other thread.
So, it works for some, and others it doesn't, whether user error or 'magic' failure. I would believe most of you, that are doing the Update, are concerned w/ just getting back to your lives.
So just do the SD Custom update.
Patch it manually and move on until the Official comes out.

    Hi Peter,

Ive tried all versions..... LAP, ENA, officials and custom ROMS with or without the SMS smart text fix). None of the new versions give the correct timestamp for SMS messages : they are always a set amount of time out. Something that PALM has done in the new version has mucked up the timestamp for peple in certain zones.

Another user here in Australia has postd that he too has the same error. Both he and I hae contacted PALM, who say it is a known problem but they dont have a solution ! And I doubt they are working on one.... bummer.

Sorry for being so slow. But are you saying that the 1.13 texting apps do not work with 1.20 ? ie you put the 1.13 texting apps into the 1.20 ROM and it doesnt work ?

That would be a bummer, as 1.13 text is spot on, but 1.20 the timestamp always out bya certain amount. But with 1.13 my Treo goes crzy nearly every night : some time between 1 and 3 am the Treo scren goes into an endless loop of turning itself on and off, so the screen comes on. Keyguard (Butler) takes over and turns it straight off in 3 seconds, but the Treo immediately goes on again. The flashing woke me up every night.

So its either the flashing or the Timestamp bug Ill have to live with. I tried to live with the flashing using Profilecare, with only limited success. SO now Ive switched to 1.20 and Ill have to live with the timestmp bug., until someone (hopefully Palm but uinlikely) manages to integrate the 1.13 text into 1.20.

    thanks (again)

ok fellas. I've successfully been able to replicate the issue that odysseus is reporting.

Hopefully, if we can find a solution, this should solve all the Mac people's problems. http://discussion.treocentral.com/im...ilies/cool.gif

Now I have something to work with. I'll post more when I have some info. http://discussion.treocentral.com/im...lies/smile.gif

My Treo650 is vital to my business life so I can not play with it too much. Right now, thanks to the updater from James and CraniumFunk, everything is working fine and I thank them for their effort.

I guess that I will live with a Carrier DB of 251 and a blank CC-Cap for a while. Can anyone tell me what are the potential problems I will face with these set like this?

When Palm releases a Mac updater for LAP, I'll think about doing the whole flash process again twice, once with the Palm Updater and once with the stripped version from James.

But for now, I am going to leave it as-is for a while and see if it functions OK over time.

    Regards

Current version of CC-Cap should be ENA-ENA-001.

My Software show Treo650-1.20-ROW because I am using a previously downloaded copy that has CJKOS in the Preferences.

Newer ones does not support Chinese anymore. Am I right? Is it safe to carry on with this or is there a newer copy that supports CJKOS?

for chinese you have what there is.

If u r upgrading from an older custom ROM & do not have the correct CC-Cap value, without plenty of work, it won't be possible to resolve the Carrier DB @ 255 after Hard Reset issue using custom SD installer. You will need to use the Palm updater first. Unfortunately, this means the Mac users will need to wait for the official updater to be released.

There's a necessary step in the computer updater which uses the computer registry. I have found a way to force these values, but the Treo will not accept them (validation fails). Could be a security feature for Palm to make it more difficult for people to "customize" their Treos.

The only solution so far is to copy the 2 files to RAM. These files are CarrierProfiles2.pdb & NetorkProfiles2.pdb and can be found at the following link. Here you can also find the current modified & stripped ROMs.

    http://discussion.treocentral.com/showpost.php?p=893877&postcount=564

If u have never used a custom ROM & are upgrading from an official Palm release, in this case it's possible to have Carrier DB 255 after Hard Reset using the *current* custom ROMs.

If you are looking for the complete ROMs, they can be found at the following link.

Do you mean the Windows registry? If so, that may explain why the Mac updater is taking so long ...

Of course, these don't add the CC-Cap value (what is this anyway), but it doesn't seem to matter.

Yes, the windows registry. But, Mac also has a registry. Using this approach shouldn't be a challenge for Palm to implement in the Mac updater. But, you never know???

CC-Cap is a token value, not a file. If you have Carrier DB @ 255 by RAM files, then u should be ok. I wouldn't worry about the missing CC-Cap. I would suggest u run the Mac updater when it releases, to regenerate CC-Cap. http://discussion.treocentral.com/im...lies/smile.gif

The Mac has individual files in which application-specific settings are stored.

Windows has one large hierarchy segmented file, Mac has many individual files. They accomplish the same thing.

Are any of the ROM's in here including the FAT32.PRC?

I've been searching for a tread with links to the different ROM's are listed - I've not been able to locate such a tread yet

I'm basically looking for a customized ROM like this:
    - 1.71/1.20 ENA
    - Preferably only English
    - FAT32.prc included
    - Included: Versamail
    - Removed: Real, QuickTour, 'Welcome'

I suppose there is such a ROM floating around here - maybe except from the FAT32.prc. Is it possible for someone to perform this minor adjustment on an excisting customized ROM?

Hummm... I've done this update now too and for some reason, my treo still keeps locking up - or resetting too. I'm at a complete loss as to what to do. I've baselined it software-wise and it still does it. It must be a hardware problem. Does anyone have any idea if Palm would replace it?
