Anyone know of a utility or even a web site that can tell me what files are put on by what program and what each file does.

Uninstall Manager does a good job of keeping track of what gets installed when you install a new program, but you need to have it installed first for it to keep track (won't help for programs already installed). Resco Explorer also does a pretty good job of indicating the program that uses certain files with the same creatorID as an application , so they're indicated by a miniature version of the app icon for the related files.(although there may be some apps that create files with a different creatorID that will show up as "Unknown", mainly when looking at Saved Preferences),
    Palm III > HS Visor > Treo 600 > Treo 650 > Treo 750 > Treo Pro > PrePlus GSM

"95% of all software issues are due to USER ERROR."

Uninstall Manager's (UM) companion utility CleanUp (CU) uses a "signature file" to monitor known programs and which files are associated with it....so even if you put the neatfreakpak (UM + CU) afterwards you can ferret out programs.

UM and CU has the additional ability to delete these "fake creator ID's" too as they monitor and keep track of what programs it tracked or are known via the signature file to use alternate creatorID's. So even if the developer tries to fake UM / CU out with a different creator ID, it still gets deleted.
