I installed pocket tunes on my new palm treo 650. I did the steps in windows media player and it will not connect to windows media player to be able to upload a song for me. I am able to hotsync with the USB cable. Does anyone know why it wont connect? Is there something I am missing?

I have never used Window Media as a way to install music. I'm not sure if WM supports the Treo as a music device. I always use a card reader and copy the music that way. It's much faster than trying to connect through the Treo.

Did you run the complete Pocket Tunes installation program, or just load the .prc? You need to run the whole install app in order for it to hook up properly with Windows Media Player.

I read that but I think what is going on is that it is not even reading to connect to WMP. So I cant even get to that point to be able to try to transfer.. however, I tried putting a small mp3 on it without an SD card.. I just got the phone last night and I just order an SD card 10 minutes ago.. Woudl that be why? Thank you for your links!

i think i installed both.. it is installed on my palm treo 650, and it is implemented into my windows media player (the sync file tab), also in my start-programs there is a folder for Pocket Tunes (but all it asks is to install Pockettunes to Palm, or Unistall PocketTunes from Palm, and the HOWTO) but I read the howto and it just says to add it to the quene list for transpering to the phone once the next sync. .It doesnt add it to any of the sync when I hotsync it, and when I am in pockettunes and I try to connect via pocketunes to my comptuer it just sits there and says "trying to connect"

You have to have an SD card for music.

OK, so to have my Treo play MP3s:

I need a Treo (got it)
    SD Card (I got a 2 gb)
Pocket Tunes (have the basic and will upgrade soon)
MP3s (got a bunch from my CD collection and downloaded)

I have the Pkt. Tunes installed. I need to put in the SD Card then Synch the MP3s into the Treo and they will automatically go to the card?? I read somewhere that the Treo (or pkt. tunes) only play what?? Do they have to be downloaded from a certain site (like an IPod is to ITunes)????

Ptunes will play MP3s and WMAs... need a card to sync from Windows Media Player 10. You also need to create a playlist to sync. Works pretty good!!!

If you have an SD card reader you can copy the files toyour card as well.

If you use a card reader you dont have to use a playlist. Just right clik on song file add to sync.

if you are going to sync the mp3s, you will also need time. it takes a lot more time to sync mp3 than it is to use a card reader.

just put them in a folder called audio.

    any mp3 should work.

how they sound, depends on your bit rate and the head phones.

    Yingyang,

    In general, you should:
    1. Install Pocket-Tunes on your computer, then Hotsync the app to your handheld.
    2. Launch PTunes on your Treo, hit the menu key, then choose Prefs->Copy from PC.
    3. In that menu screen, make sure the mode is set to MTP. It may now have to reset your Treo. If it doesn't, do it manually anyway.
    4. Launch PTunes after the reset and connect via USB. You should see the Treo install as a new MTP device. It will then show up in Windows Media Player, RealPlayer, or any other music app. You can then transfer music.

Let me know if this doens't work out for you. It's definitely faster to transfer directly to the card via card reader, but MTP mode is nice if you want to transfer copy protected music (Napster, Rhapsody, etc) or if you like to sync your music collection with Windows Media Player.
