    frustrating..

I have read the threads in the search, but cant find the answer...

Refirb phone.. I am sure it isnt the cord (I sync'd my old one on Thursday). Checked all the normal settings, etc., etc.

Am I missing something? Does it have to do with this phone being a different ESN?

You don't say what problems you are having but have you cleaned the contacts on the cable, phone and the cradle if you are using one.
A clean pencil eraser, used gently, and an old toothbrush will create a better connection.

    sorry nelson....

Yes I have cleaned the contacts (saw that on the palm website). Canned air and the dollar bill trick. But as I said I just synced my old phone a few days ago with the same cord and same PC.

When I press the button to sync, the 650 begins but the computer will not recognize it. I have even plugged in on 4 different USB ports (none of which are through a hub).

I have had the same problem, I just upgraded from the 600. When I try to hotsync nothing happens on my computer. I am on sprint and I was on the phone with the helpline for an hour and he thought it was the cable. I took my laptop into sprint and we tried two cables and two phones and got the same thing. I am hoping that bluetooth will solve this issue!

I just borrowed a friends cable that does work... but does not on mine. I guess the next step would be take the refirb phone back?

I'd say the next step would be to check if it will sync with your friend's computer.

yea, it wont. I am about to give up and just get a USB Bluetooth adaptor and go that route. Sending off my phone and waiting around is getting REALLY old.

I am having the same Hotsync issues. I haven't Hotsynced my 650 for over a month now, because of the same problems that you are reporting: nothing happens on the computer when the Treo Hotsync is started.

I have tried almost everything I can find on the internet, even the Handspring registry cleaner thing, but nothing is working. I will continue to watch this thread, and if I find anything that can help I will definately post it.

I bought a USB bluetooth and will try it out tonight, will let you know what happens. I hope it will work, even though it will probably be slower.

Just connected the Kensington Bluetooth USB Adapter from Best Buy ($39.99) and it works fine now. No more cord even though it is a little slower.

I have had the same syncing problem on my 650. How I was able to get around this problem was to delete the syncing software on the computer, then reinstall it then it tends to work properly.

I had a similar synching issue which I resolved by rebooting the PC with the USB cable plugged into the treo and attached to the PC. Saw this on another post
    this solved my synching problem
    hope this helps

Trust me...if your Treo is not able to sync when plugged in to your computer, the USB Registry tool is a great step in fixing it. It solved all of my USB problems in one shot. See my earlier post to download it from Palmone
