well dang - that's what i get for looking things over at work in the middle of a few projects and meetings with month old contacts

I think the real value of the web based gmail is the native ability to open attachments (.."It automatically adjusts the interface depending on the size of the screen, and can even open attachments including Word documents, PDF files and pictures..."). Given the hoops people are going thru to read pdf docs and the need for different apps for different attachments, this is a significant addition to the email competitive landscape.

Can one of you send me an invitation to set up a GMail account?

When I bring up my account, I'm seeing the sender on one line and the hotlink to the sender's message right below it. Some of the messages are indented/offset, too, while others aren't. I've tried optimized and widepage mode and both large and small fonts.

Is this how it appears on you guys' browsers (can't seem to indent in Treocentral's forums, so where it says (indention) is actually blank space in Blazer). Perhaps I'm being fussy, but I would prefer sender and subject on same line if possible.

    Joe Smith
    Here's the file you wanted
    Pete Jones
(indention) The order didn't go through
    Spammy Spammer
    (indention) Low cost viagra!
    Angelina Jolie
    Meet me for dinner, studboy?

There's no way to pull in another POP mail account through Gmail, is there?
  7. #27
What am I missing here? I've been accessing (sending and receiving) my Gmail accounts through Versamail on my 650 for nearly a year now without a hitch. Okay, it may not be the most elegant program out there, but it gets the job done. (I've also used Snapper and Chatter, but just didn't need to eat up all the extra memory for my email needs.) The Mobile Gmail is nice, but still nowhere as smooth as Versamail.

Yes, anything via Blazer that can be done with a software client on the device is definitely not going to be as smooth. I only use GMail in the browser (on the phone, that is) for searching. I have all of the domains' email on my box forward to GMail. All domains, picked up and archived in one place that I can access from anywhere.

I was originally POPping GMail with Chatter (I like GMail's spam filters, and I don't have to have POP open in the firewall on my box), but once I finally got IMAP working on my box, I added a mailbox that would get a copy of the email, as well as a copy going to GMail. This way, using Chatter (in ROM, btw, in place of versamail), I get a copy of the email via IMAP as soon as it comes in, and I can delete it, flag it to check out more in depth later, or whatever, and I still have a 'backup' in GMail, that I can search for later, or to read while I'm on my laptop at home/work...

Not sure what you meant by "erase all with the simple use of your Treo's numbered keys!"

    Thanks,

Can you use the 7 to erase without opening the message? I can't seem to delete a message without opening it.

    Any more invites available?
  13. #33
I wsa under the impression you didn't need invites anymore...
  14. #34
It turns out you need an invitation, but you can provide a cell phone number and have the invitation sent to you. You don't need an invitation from an existing user (though you can still receive one that way as well)

I can't get the new Gmail to work with Xiino.

And the old Gmail is no longer working with Xiino, so I am now using Blazer for my Gmail and Xiino for everything else! Not progress. Anyone having better luck?

Is there a Santa Claus who can send me an invite? (I'm not in the US.)

    I truly want to believe.

It's amazing that viewing pdf files have been such an issue in the past w/Treos 300/600/650 (Docs to Go) and all of a sudden you can view pdf attachments on your Treo using Gmail Mobile with no additonal software.
