    Hello,
I would like to know if there is any software out there that would stop all SMS notification from coming on when I receive a SMS message.
I already have the notification disabled but the asteric keeps coming on. is there any way to stop the complete notification from coming on?
    Any help is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

What device are you using? If a Treo 650, what model? What carrier?
    V > Vx > m505 > m515 > T/T > T3 > TC > 650 > 680

Nevermind. On the unbranded model, there's a setting in Preferences/Sounds & Alerts/Messaging/Tones for "Show Message Alerts"; but unchecking that just stops the pop up message - it doesn't eliminate the system alert...which is behind the flashing asterisk. I don't think you can prevent the Treo's alert system from acknowledging receipt of an SMS.

Why would you not want to receive SMS? That makes no sense to me.

Why not use something like TreoHelper to schedule your phone's cellular radio off at night (and back on in the morning)?
    V > Vx > m505 > m515 > T/T > T3 > TC > 650 > 680

Or Profiles, that'll do it too.. turn screen down to nearly 0 backlight, turn off sound, turn off vibration.

I want the alert, I just don't want the pop up. I've unchecked both show options in the preferences, but I still get the popup. I'd rather not have just anyone who happens to be around read my SMS when they pop up. Any tips?

Enable Privacy mode within the SMS app...if your's doesn't have that option (you didn't mention your model, carrier, firmware version,e tc), then you can try Butler...it has that feature.

Is there a way to eliminate notifications only when a phone call is active? It is a real pain to be talking on the phone and have it vibrate when I receive a text message. If there was a way to supress the notification while just on a call I would like that.

Butler and Volumecare can do it, I think Callfilter also
    Palm III > HS Visor > Treo 600 > Treo 650 > Treo 750 > Treo Pro > PrePlus GSM

I can't find the option in Butler or CallFilter, I will try out VolumeCare.

I was hoping I could use Phone Technician but it says "Alters relating to SMS Messages or incoming calls are not affecting" in the Disable Alarms screen. That's a real bummer.
