In the Preferences application there is a heading called shortcuts.

The intent is obviously to speed text entry....but how do I use them? I've looked in the manual and found nothing.

I would like to use time and date stamp functions but cannot figure out how to use them. What say you?

... and then press the letters of your short cut, i.e.:
    dts for date and time.

The whole step are as follows:

Hit the s key then the
    alt key
scroll down to the last symbol
    Type dts
and the date and time shows up, like below:
    12/14/05 6:54pm

Thanks....so obvious I feel almost ashamed to have owned treos for the last 4 years and never put that together.....not the brightest bulb in the Treo Xmas tree I guess.....

Wouldn't be the first time either.

You are not alone. I had owned Palm device Vx and I could do it there and it took me a while to figure it out in the Treo 600 until I've read someone post it here.

You can also use Shortcuts5 to program these shortcuts by typing ".dts" in this case for date and time stamp.

This is great for personal vs. business signatures, often used strings of e-mails (easier than creating an additional contact/distribution list in my opinion).

I think it's shareware and you are limited to only 50 shortcuts.
