    Good choice - love it.

I suggest you search the word "poll". You will find that the vast majority (defined as 75% or better) love their Treo and have very few problems.

I'm considering upgrading my 600 to a 650, but a friend just told me he heard the 650 is riddled with problems, so much so that there is a class-action lawsuit against Palm. Is this true? Does the 650 suck or are the problem phones just a small percentage? What's your overall opinion of the 650? Thanks!

A class action lawsuit usually drives more benefit for lawyers than for consumers.

Search the word "poll" in the discussion forums and you'll get a more accurate insight.

As for posts here, I get little value from the "hey I love my Treo" threads, so you don't often see many. Conversely, you will see many, "hey, I ran my Treo thru the washing machine and now the piece of crap doesn't work" (ok, I'm exaggerating, but you get the point). Be careful in forming an opinion from the number of negative threads in a forum whose greatest value comes from helping folks solve problems - all you see are problems ....

These people are high. This phone is unreliable and bug ridden. If you actually have a social life and want to make and recieve calls return this pronto. If you like playing games and screwing around with apps, return it, get a better PDA and save some money.

This product is vaporware and the only people cheering it on are those IT geeks at work who always need to have the newest, coolest, most overhyped gadget on the market in order to feel cool.

In my opinion, there are good phones and there are bad phones out there. I love this phone, but will not deny that I've had to get several replacements for some reason or another (mostly spontaneous resets out of the box, nothing installed/hotsynched).

But when you do find a good one, it's not as bad as people write here.

The one thing about the PalmOS is that any crash will take the whole phone with it, thus the whole phone resets.
I would say that the majority of people probably have a good phone, or they have learned to tolerate a few resets. You'll see that users will tolerate the issues with this phone because it's one of the better merged devices out there, thus they'll take the sacrifice.

With that said, once you find a good one, you'll love it for a long time (or at least until the next new sexy thing comes out).

You see a lot of people on here who do complain but for all those people who complain how many people are there out there who have no complaints and are perfectly happy with their Treo, but don't feel that they need to post and say as much. You see more complaint threads than I love my wonderful Treo threads! Now this isn't a new thought, it has been said before I am just saying cause it doesn't seem like this has been said. The Treo has been plauged with some issues, but what mobile device hasn't. Everything from your basic Nokia all the way up to the Treo have some sort of issue with so many hundreds or thousands of phones that roll of the line. Anyone that is a real Treo user knows how to make there Treo run right with minimal issues, and the other people that get the Treo cause its cool and has a keyboard those people either don't load any apps and never have an issue or they come here and learn. Just my $.02

I have a ludicrous amount of third-party software. My last crash was 11/18 caused by a third party app. I'd call that pretty solid.

    ... maybe some... you're right!
Love is a chemical state of mind that's part of our genes and influenced by our upbringing. We are wired for romance in part because we are supposed to be loving parents who care diligently for our helpless babies.

Cool, any other constructive data to add ?

My wife has a stock Treo 650 that resets, well, never....

Since I moved to the latest firmware, mine has not rest in recent memory.

search "poll" and determine for yourself...

    everybody duck......

LS, Why are you still using the Treo, return it and move on. If it is outside the return period, call the carrier, explain the problem and get a different device, if they refuse, go to the website of the Attorney General for the state you live in, file a complaint (5 minutes, literally) and let them handle it for you.

If your experience is truly as bad as you depict, they should be able to work it out....

    p.s: Good choice - I love mine!
The code is ##377 not #*377
You can type it in using the keyboard from the main phone screen (green phone button or red phone button brings this up). If you hit the green phone button twice and the up arrow once you get the option of using the Dail Pad. From here you can enter the code without needing to use the black (secondary function) button to get into the number mode, or you can just tap the screen.
I did not read through all of this thread so if I'm repeating what has been said just ignor.

The codes are different for CDMA and GSM. ##377 is CDMA and #*377 is GSM. Verizon might be different too
    Palm III > HS Visor > Treo 600 > Treo 650 > Treo 750 > Treo Pro > PrePlus GSM

Vaporware also refers to any overhyped product that fails to live up to expectations.

I don't feel that after spending $400 on a phone, that i should have to turn around and pay for a new one. One thing that always sickens me about any bug ridden Beta released product is just how many geeks act like we are lucky to have the opportunity to shell out ridiculous amounts of money for this crap. If palm would give me a refund I would jump on it in a heartbeat.

As for the Treo 650 being only for the seriously geeky, not so. THis is my first PDA, my first GSM phone, and my home computer is still running Windows 98 (to the everlasting shame of my son). I have had a BLAST with my Treo!
I started with a buggy device that requred a new sim card, which I learned by reading this forum. This is a gold-mine of information for all problems with the Treo. I don't consider myself to be especially tech-y, but any problems that have come up with the Treo I have been able to solve by following the directions provided by many uber-users here in the forum.
So don't be so quick to judge who is using the Treo. This is not just a phone for the geek-elite among us.
Did I mention that I just love this thing?

I am in total agreement. Unit works great on its own, but can get into problems the more stuff you put on it.

I wonder if the 700p will be like that also?
