    I'm going to be upgrading from a tungsten t to my first treo. I've got a couple hundred dollars' worth of medical software as well as agendus, zlauncher, and other apps that I don't feel like paying for again. Is there any way that I can transfer them over to the new treo? I've had the programs for over a year, so the registration passwords are long gone - hopefully I won't need them. I hope there's a way to do this, because replacing all that software might even make the upgrade cost prohibitive. Please help!

    Someone correct me if I am wrong, but I believe you will need the registration code. I just made sure that I used the same HotSync ID for the 650 (since I was not going to use the 600). I had most of the registration codes. I created a memo with most of the codes. For the ones I did not have, I just sent an e-mail to the vendor. Everyone sent me the codes. Even the ones that were well over 1 year old.
    Me = Nokia 5170/Palm III > Kyocera 6035 > Treo 600 > Treo 650 > Treo 700p > Treo 755p > Treo Pro > Palm Pre

    Wife = Treo 600 > Treo 650 > Treo 755p > Palm Centro > Palm Pixi

    "This article is for people who have owned a Treo smartphone or Palm Powered handheld (Zire, Tungsten, etc.) and are now upgrading to a Treo 650 smartphone. You'll learn the best way to transfer your personal information from your old device to your new smartphone, and how to avoid common pitfalls in the process."

    If you keep the same Hotsync ID, then you won't need the registration codes again.

    My very strong advice: Transfer your calendar, contacts and memos but re-install all your applications from scratch. Again, if you use the same ID, you can use the same registration codes. For the few applications that you have lost the codes for.. e-mail the vendor and explain.

    but my understanding was that vendors frowned upon sharing apps from one device to another, even if it's the same user. Doesn't that just lose them money? I don't want to email them and have them refuse me the registration codes.

    I've never experienced that. Anyway, why does the fact that you're moving to another device even have to be mentioned?

    Your Hotsync ID, exactly as it is (case sensitive and all that)
