I have scanned the archives unsuccessfully... I have a T600 and will be upgrading to a T650 shortly..

Is there an FAQ for issues one will face when upgrading? Software compatibility, hardware compatibility, tips and tricks to make the conversion easy??

    TIA!!

    Excellent...Thanks!

My life's inspiration is to get my Post count up as high as yours!!! I'll bet the new T650 will help me reach my goals!!!

Appreciate the fast response! Now if I can just figure out all the software I added to my T600 so i can get the updates.... that would be neat.

Once you have installed Documents to Go, use this tool to clear 4mb of internal memory:

    LOL

I'm just a noob, there are folks in the 5,000 -- 6,000 and even 8,000 range!! Of course The Munk (8,000+) (aka Insertion) doesn't count, he's just special. I aspire to have half of the knowledge base of the Mods and many of the members I have encountered here!! Of course, 90% of what I know about Treos -- I learned here!!

    Cheers, Perry.

Ok...so let me show my noobness... memory is memory. If this app simply moves the Docs to Go files to the removable memory...what's the benefit? 4Mb is 4Mb whether it is on the SD or internal...No?

    Hi MikeM!

    No problem. . . .

Internal memory is the "operating memory" of the Treo and is 22mb total. Not all programs can "run" from the SD card, so 3rd party programs use up this limited internal memory space and having free internal memory is valuable. I try to have 5mb free -- to allow for Web Browsing and email downloads.

The Treo can take up to a 2GB SD memory card -- so space is not an issue there, although I do have 1.5GB of mine full with music, pics, and spreadsheets.

    Cheers, Perry

Not quite. Think of the SD card as the hard drive in a PC and the 23.7 MB of RAM (that you see when you do a Menu - Info - Size) as the RAM (512 meg, 1 GB etc) in a PC. And then there's the NVFS cache ...

It's not exactly the same.. but you get the idea. SD card is used for storage. The memory used to run them is different.

Look at this thread for an application that displays all of these memories:

This article from Palm discusses some more on the types of memory on the Treo
