OK, people are posting you can get a Treo 650 for $200. I'll have Sprint's "new to you" $150 discount on the 29th (even though the website says 12/1/05), less the Sprint's stupid stick it to the customer activation fee.

Some people are saying, get the 650 as the 700p is so much rumor at this point, but only for $200.

    So, what's up? Where can I get a Treo 650 for $200?

    Sprint has them for $500 (OK, $499.99). Less $150 is $350. Next there's a $50 rebate (http://www.palm.com/sprintrebate). That's still $300.

    What am I missing?

For example, you can get one for $150 after (3) rebates from wirefly.com. Don't forget to configure their web page for the plan you want (e.g., the $34.99 plan) not the one they want to sell you.

I don't know if this URL is stable:

Hmm. Looks like you have to keep your account for 180 days before you get the rebate. That means 6 months waiting for the check.

Also, as I stated above, I am not a new customer.

Do not go with Wirefly. They are scam artists. The real company name is actually Inphonic, btw. I believe they go by a couple of other names also as a way to hide who they really are. In addition, if you buy from Buy.com, you actually end up buying from Wirefly.

This is one of the absolute worst companies on the net. Don't take my word for it - Read the customer reviews for Wirefly and Inphonic at yahoo shopping, resellerratings, bizrate, cnet and you will find hordes of angry customer who NEVER get the rebate check they were promised. I have never seen a company generate such antipathy from its customers.

I think TreoCentral has even teamed up with these crooks in the past. Shame, shame, shame.

Edited to add - go read the post in the TreoStore Forum. The poster's experience there is typical.

Excellent info! Thanks for the tips re SERO and Wirefly. That Sero deal looks *great*!

Oh the pain. Apparently when I got my wife a new phone in October both my lines were renewed (not just hers) for a 2 year agreement. I really want the SERO deal, but I think I'm stuck in my current contract for 2 lines unless I pay the $150 fee to get out early.

Edit: In the age of Phishing... Why does the SERO link send you to a site hosted with delivery.net and inphonic.com?

If you check near the bottom you will find this:

"Orders for products and services are fulfilled by InPhonic, Inc., an authorized agent for Sprint PCS ."

Apparently, Inphonic has sunk it's tentacles even deeper into Sprint. I'd go directly to a Sprint store and pay the extra bucks instead of dealing with these guys if you're set on Sprint. I know I sound like some Ralph-Nader-voting-pinko commie (I'm not) when I say this, but Inphonic is pure and unadulterated corporate Evil.

Don't get suckered like I did.

Sheesh, I totally missed that. Looks like I have to wait to the 29th (at least) and go to the Sprint store unless I can uncover a better deal in the mean-time. I hope we'll have more info on the new Treos by then.

    Thanks again to everyone.

I signed up with my current contract at a Sprint store a week and 2 days ago. When I found out about the SERO deal, I called cs and asked them to switch me to it, or I would take advantage of the 14 day cancellation policy. So the cs agent said that rather than me going through all the hassle of cancelling, then resigning up she would switch me to the SERO plan. I now have that plan and it's very nice. See this thread for more info.:
