About 3 weeks ago, I applied the 1.12a ROM from Sprint, and my phone has had reset issues ever since, the biggest issue being the dreaded reset loop where only a hard-reset stops it. It was perfect before the 1.12a update.

So... does anyone know if I can re-install the regular 1.12 update to downgrade, or will the ROM program sense that there is a newer ROM and not run at all?

I'm scared to do it without any input, so please help me if you can.

    Thanks!

    Hi Ken!

Let's try a clean install first, it may not be the ROM upgrade itself, but something that got corrupted in the process. A clean install will first restore just your PIM data(contacts, tasks, appointments and memos). Your reset problem should then stop. Then you can start adding back 3rd party software via fresh installs -- not from back up -- as the backups may contain the corruption.

    Clean Install:

Hot sync to backup any last new PIM data.
    Hard reset
On your PC, rename your backup folder -- backupold
    (Programs>Palm>userid>backup to backupold)
This is where 3rd party software is retained for backup and by renaming the folder--you take it out of the process.
    Hot sync
You should have a non resetting Treo w/ just your PIM data.
Run this way for a day to make sure
Then start adding your 3rd party software back thru fresh installs.
You should be good to go.

    If not:
Does the Treo keep resetting after a hard reset and before any hot sync?
(Visit the store for a replacement.)
Does the Treo reset after the clean install of PIM data?
(You may have corruption in a contact data base.)
(There are clean up methods for this.)
If it resets after the addition of 3rd party software - its the software.
So add software back one day at a time -- so you can find the culprit. If you get everything reinstalled, without the resetting problem reappearing -- great!!

    Cheers, Perry.
