Yesterday, I thought I saw something here which was appropriate to my problem; but today I can't find it; so I'll start a new thread. If the topic has already been covered elsewhere, please point me in the right direction.

Anyway, a couple of days ago, I installed the latest update for my Cingular Treo, from the Palm web site. After that was done, I found that every time I ran a hot sync, it would disconnect part way through and not complete the sync (although some things did get synced). Thinking maybe the problem was in Palm Desktop, I got the latest version of that and reinstalled. Now I can't sync at all (using cradle or cable). I haven't tried IR, and my computer doesn't have Bluetooth, so I can't go that route.

Has anyone else had this problem, and what is the solution? Thanks in advance.

Well, first I would advise reinstalling the version of Palm Desktop that's on your CD; the version available for download from Palm doesn't offer any advantages, and in fact does not include all of the conduits that you might be used to using.

Thanks, Bill. I will give that a try. If that doesn't do the trick, I'll be back looking for more help. I'll come back anyway to let everyone know what happens.

Well, I tried reinstalling Palm Desktop from the CD. I thought it was going to work, as it seemed to start to HotSync. Then, it quit without completing a sync and later it wouldn't do anything. My local computer guru said he had the same problem and had to do a hard reset on the Treo. Since my Palm Desktop now has nothing, and all the information is on my Treo, how can I do a hard reset without losing everything?

Your Palm desktop still should have everything.

Try this - go into HotSync Settings and slow down the connection speed on the local tab. Take it down to 57,600kps and see if it'll connect then.

Still nothing at 57.6. When I open Palm Desktop, it tells me that the Address Book, To Do List and Memo databases failed to open. Some other third party stuff seems to have made it, at some point; but those three very important items are soundly sleeping. As far as the Palm Desktop still having everything, where is it? I certainly can't see it.

Is my face red! I discovered I had been using the wrong CD, the one for my Treo 600 (which I still have as a backup unit) instead of the one for the 650. I have now installed the correct one and everything seems to be working fine now. Thanks for all the help anyway.

Thanks for telling us......at least it's resolved and not an open issue anymore.
