    Hi:
I'm using a Visor Prism with PalmOS 3.5.2H1. In my color device I'm not able to view characters like "ρ σινσ΄ α" using WordSmith.
This problem was fixed and now it works GREAT...

However, I would like to see compatibility with the Palm application Chrome, which is very popular among color PDA users. Since the original white background it too bright for reading, Chrome gives users the option to change the color of the background and fonts to improve readability. I use a black background with white fonts. When I use Chrome with my settings, WordSmith shows only a plain white screen.

    Please improve this GREAT program.

    Thanks

Did I miss something? The software did not appear to be updated on the website, but I downloaded it again anyways and I still can't view characters like "ρ σινσ΄ α" or bullets. I saw the post stating that they are working on it, but it does not appear that they have a fix up yet. Al do you have a special updated version or what?

I have a Visor Deluxe and after I installed Word Smith and used the built in find function to do a search it gives me a fatal exception error when it tries to search Word Smith files. I found that if I turn Afterburner off it works but even if I have Afterburner on and the speed for the built in find at normal that it still crashes. Has anyone else had problems with this?

I also want to mention that you can now purchase it from their web site for %50 off at $19.99 USD. I just did.

When the final version is out of course we are already registered and it will work fine since we have it already

I too have had problems with DOC files being deleted after installing the 1.0b2 beta. Just downloaded the 2.0 beta and will be curious to see if my DOC files stay intact!

Help! Where are you finding beta 2.0? I can only find 1.02!

To get beta 2, follow the link above. The webpage says that it is beta 1.02b, but I guess they just haven't revised it yet. My installed version has today's date on it.

    The good news...

    - DOC files have been left intact (what a relief!)
    - Stowaway keyboard editing shortcuts (ctrl-x, etc) work
    - Pop! and Magictext hacks work fine!

    The "not here yet" news...

    - Still have to wait for bulleted lists (possible for version 1.0?)

After I registered for WordSmith, I got rid of PeditPro, Isilo and Wormie. Now I'm using the best word editor for the PalmOS. However, I need compatibility with the utility Chrome, I hate to change my color settings to use WordSmith.

Anybody has the same problem using Chrome(black background) and WordSmith?

    Thanks

    Al

PS: Also, we need color fonts,a better shortcut for font size and bullets and numbers.

    Al-

Thank you for registering WordSmith. :-) We are aware of the problem with Chrome, and will be working on a fix shortly. If you want to drop us a note at beta@bluenomad.com, we can let you know as soon as it's available.

Color fonts are very high on our list for 1.1. Bullets and numbers are also on our to-do list, again, for after 1.0. We're concentrating on getting the base product rock-solid before adding any more features. ;-)

As far as the keyboard shortcuts for font size, did you have something particular in mind?

Thanks for your feedback and support,

The shortcut crtl-D brings up the dialog box "Font Selector" which allows the user change the font size using a stylus. I think it would be nice if the user could scroll up and down those options without the use of a stylus. The same goes for the check boxes. Now that the developer's kit for the stowaway keyboard is public, I think it would be less painful to impliment this new features.

    Thanks

Hmm...when I bring up the font dialog, the cursor is flashing in the "size" field, and I don't need the stylus to enter in a number.

Additionally, control-b/i/u, etc. works to select the checkboxes.

Does this not work for you?

Once again I have to confest that this program is GREAT. My stowaway keyboard has never been this good with any other application. Most commands are similar to the ones you will find in a web browser.

I found out that by using ctrl-[ or ctrl-] you could change the size of the fonts. Very easy to use, rebust and reliable.

Thanks Alexander for your great feedback...!

As the devlopers seem to be monitoring this thread, I have a question that I would like to ask. I have sent an email requesting printing support, but was wondering about a timetable for this. Also, will it be using PalmPrint from Stephen's Creek software? If you had the ability to print directly from this software, it would be an incredibly useful addition. I am already excited about the functionality, though, and have already registered it. Also, would it be possible to make the WordSmith files still viewable in a regular Doc reader? That would be a nice enhancement. This could be done even if you saw the formatting codes.

    Charis-

At the moment we are investigating our printing options - currently none of the existing printing vendors support printing "rich text", though we are speaking with several of them about adding this functionality.

We are definitely planning on allowing you to save a "rich" doc as a "standard" doc, which you could then print with existing printing solutions.

We just posted another build that should play much more nicely with Chrome, and fixes a bunch of other stuff as well ;-)

    You can get it here:

The download page still says beta 2, but we still snuck the new build in ;-)
