I finally switched from T-Mobile to Sprint yesterday and got my Treo 650. I got mine for $199. I asked Sprint if they could price match Office Max's Friday / Saturday sale for Earthlink Wireless Treo 650 for $99.99. They couldn't match the $100.00 rebate so they credited my account with $100 and matched the $199 price + there is a $50 rebate available on Palm's site. After rebate I pay $149 for my Treo 650

Now, to my question: How do I check what ROM / Firmware version I have? Also, what's the latest ROM / Firmware version for Sprint Treo 650s? Thanks for any help.

Apparently, Firefox versions earlier than 1.5 may have a problem with the link above. In case that's the browser you're using, here's what the referenced page says:

    1. Press Phone/Send .

    2. Press the Menu button .

    3. From the Options menu, select Phone Info.

    4. On the Phone Info screen, look for the Software item. Compare the version on your Phone Info screen with the table below:
    ...
    For Sprint PCS:
If it's Lower than Treo650-1.12-SPCS Yes get it here

If it's Treo650-1.12-SPCS or higher No, smartphone already updated

    Cool, I have Treo650-1.12a-SPNT

Does anyone have a customized version of my ROM that does not have "Get BC"? Thanks.

Anyone know what the "a" in 1.12a stands for? I have Sprint as well, and have updated the firmware when last made available (5 months ago or so), but my phone shows:
    Software: Treo650-1.12-SPCS (without the "a")
    Hardware: A

The Palm KB says it's not a cause for updating- I'm just curious...

    EDIT after checking into this:
A web search answered the question: It's due to the E911 Firware update for Sprint.
    Here's the text from Palm...

    Download and Install
The Treo 650 E911 Firmware Update can be downloaded over-the-air to your smart device and installed immediately. Or, if you prefer, you can download it to your PC or Mac and sync it to your smart device.

If you're reading this on your Treo 650 (over-the-air installation):
    1. When you click on the link below, downloading will begin. But first, read these instructions and make sure you understand them.
    2. After you click the link, you'll be asked where to save the file. Select Save To: Applications. Then select Save. When asked if you want to accept "E911_Firmware_Updater.prc" into Applications, select Yes.
    3. Once you've downloaded the software, press Home http://www.palm.com/us/images/suppor...es/650_app.gif.
    4. Select E911 Update to launch the Treo 650 E911 Firmware Update.
    5. Tap "Update Now" to start the update.
    6. To check if the update was successful:
      1. Press Phone/Send http://www.palm.com/us/images/suppor..._phonesend.gif, press Menu http://www.palm.com/us/images/suppor...s/650_menu.gif, then press I (Phone Info).
      2. Under Software, look for an "a" after the number.
Example: Treo650-1.12a-SPCS. The "a" means your device was updated successfully.
      3. If you do not see an "a" after the number, run the updater again: press Home http://www.palm.com/us/images/suppor...es/650_app.gif, launch E911 Firmware Update, and tap "Update Now."
    7. When the update is complete, you can delete the installer from your smart device:
      1. Press Home http://www.palm.com/us/images/suppor...es/650_app.gif.
      2. Press Menu http://www.palm.com/us/images/suppor...s/650_menu.gif.
      3. From the App menu, select Delete.
      4. Select the file named E911 Update and tap Delete. Then tap Done.
Ready? Click here to download the Treo 650 E911 Firmware Update to your smart device.
