    Hi,

Has anyone experience the problem after several days, your versamail and your web won't connect unless you do a soft reset or turn the phone off and then back on again?

I've checked the parameters in my network preferences and they are all correct. I just need to do a soft reset or phone on/off every once in a while when I encounter this problem with the internet. It seems like the GPRS somehow cannot get used all of a sudden.

    Any help/resolution appreciated.

Doesn't sound too serious. I think it's a fairly common phenomenon; I experienced it with my last two phones (Sony Ericsson). I would assume that the only reason I've never experienced it with my Treo 650 is that I schedule both my phone off and a soft reset every night preceeding my scheduled backup.

I too on occasion have the same issue. Soft reset to get Cingular EDGE up and running again. Usually get an error 0x740F. I have tried to find info on this error but all that comes up is an association with pdanet which I do not use. Any thoughts on the error and what do you use to schedule your nightly soft reset? Butler, Shedule Care, Profile Care...?

As I am relatively new to the T650 how does one reset the Netlib? And what does it do?

Pardon the "newbie" (thats me) but just to be clear you use mreset and lookatme to schedule a soft reset. What is the purpose of using Treohelper to schedule your phone off/on? Is it because the phone should be off for a backup?

Some folks think so, though I've never had a problem backing up with it on. It's being off does, however, prevent the interruption of the backup process by an incoming SMS or phone call - which is reason enough, I suppose.

man, I just talked to cingular and they've mentioned that they kind of expected this problem if you are using the medianet unlimited with the wap.cingular.com username method.

Cingular went on and said that if I get the pdanet plan, I won't run into this issue because i'll have my own ISP address...

The problem is that the pdanet is $40 bucks a months vs. unlimited being $20 bucks a month. Cingular also stated that my medianet unlimited is disappearing and can't get that anymore for the treo650, so everyone has to use the pdanet plan...

Sorry, had a fussy baby in my lap, could have said to search for the download. It's a file that you can run that resets the network library, although I don't have to use it very often since upgrading firmware from the really old 1.05 that was on my phone.

I am using the data plan $40/mo but Cingular has me using the wap@cingular... settings. Cingular tried to switch me over to ISP@CINGULAR... and no connection. Switched me back to wap and I am following Bill's suggestion with mreset and lookatme as a band aid solution. I only do the soft rest not the power off. Seems to work so far. I am getting a replacement 650 tomorrow and will see if they can get me connected using the isp settings etc. with it. We'll see on the "own IP address being a fix.

Good luck with that jleadbeater.. hey, if you get the "own IP" address thing working, post back with your evaluation. I want to see if it's worth upgrading to ISP@cingular and the extra $20 bucks a month... the cingular guy told me there may be some speed increases but couldn't trust him since he is trying to sell me stuff/upgrade to higher monthly charges.

I just found a long forum topic on this exact issue in this forum:

New phone came. Upgraded to 1.51/1.17. Same EDGE issues. Resets soft, warm and hard. Still fails. Support says to remain on WAP. Got a new sim card as well. Still dropping EDGE time and time again. Cingular is shipping yet another T650. I think I will go with 1.43 and 1.15 unless anyone here has a better pairing to use.
